I recently purchased a 2014 RAM 1500 SLT V6. I have had no problems with it besides right when I come to a stop at a certain speed it seems like the transmission "jerks" right before coming to a stop. Is this normal for a new truck/break in? Or is it something I should get looked at? I am not very mechanically inclined with vehicle beyond simple DIY and oil changes. Any help is greatly appreciated. The jerk isn't terrible, but does feel someone abnormal.

Thanks

If it is something like that yes.

Best general rule to go by, if it wasn't doing that before and it makes you worry, get it checked.

Actually, I believe that rule also applies to your body? :D

There is a known issue with the 32 gal tank sloshing when coming to a stop. There are several threads around here, I personally don't know the exact details because I have a smaller tank and don't have the issue. But when the tank is between 3/4 - 1/4, or close to that, it sloshes and causes a jerking or banging sensation.

My 2014 1500 V6 does the same thing coming to a stop and downshifting into first. I don't think there's anything wrong with the tranny, just a sloppy shifting strategy from Dodge. Seems to be more pronounced on quick stops. Time will tell if it's hurting anything.

GM would call that "end bump" on their Hydramatic transmissions.

I picked up my Big Horn last week and it was doing the same thing at first driving locally. I called the dealer to ask if it was normal as I was going onto the highway and by the time I arrived at my destination it was gone. Maybe the tranny needed to work itself in but since the hwy drive it is no longer doing it at all

It's tank slosh, there is no baffle in these tanks. You will notice that it is not there when the tank is getting low. I did everything you have all done, and I have noticed it goes away when tank runs down.

My truck only has 150 miles on it and it is doing it too. Sometimes hard, sometimes not at all. I am 100% it is not tank slosh. It occurs when the transmission goes from 2-1 gear. Many have said it goes away when the transmission adapts to your driving. Not sure I believe this. Going to drive a bit more and see what happens.

I wouldn't dismiss the computer idea, the computer in indeed in learning mode and will adapt the we trans shift points to your driving after a while.

Do you still get it when driving around in tow haul mode?

I wasn't going to order the 32 gl tank on my 2015 due to the "slosh" but too many folks said they were't having that problem and loved the 32 gl tank. If that is the case then the "bump" may be transmission not fuel.

There are a couple TSB's for shifting issues with the 8 speed. The noticeable shift from 2-1 is very common. The issue is the learning procedure for the transmission is very complex and the window of variables for the transmission to learn a shift is quite narrow. Fortunately there was an update recently released to allow a quick learn to be done much, much easier. However this update is currently only available for the 8hp45/845re, which is the transmission in the cars and v6 trucks. There is also a very lengthy road test procedure that the dealer can perform that helps cure the shift from 2-1.

I have a 2016 Ram .I was having the same problem I took it back to the dealer and they said the valve body was bad in the trans .They replaced the transmission .I drove the truck off the lot and it did the same thing called my trans guy and he said drive it for a little while and see if the truck reprogrammes itself I did that, no change .Now I am reading it's the gas tank sloshing. I am going to see if it does it when the gas is almost empty .This is so annoying I want to get rid of this truck because of this problem .thanks for the input guys .
