Hello, I am thinking of buying a 2016 3500 with the 6.7 and Aisin trans. Are you guys having many problems with these trucks? Thanks

Tough question. They are so new that it may be hard to start building a track record on them yet.

But, since the 2014 - 2016 3500's are pretty much the same, some reading in the 4th Gen section under Heavy Duty may give you some insight.

i test drove one, the ride was absolutely horrible, but that should be expected for a leaf spring rear end. i am ok with a little rough ride which is why i decided to go with the 2500 instead, it is rougher then the 1500 but not as bad as the 3500.

as far as troubles, i feel like there is going to be issues, minor issues that is.. there always is. i would not let that stop me if its what i like. we have warranties for a reason.

Thanks, my main concern was if they got the trans issues from a few years back fixed.

I never read about transmission issues with the Aisin, just the 68RFE. I have a 2015 3500 with the 68RFE and I don't see any issues with the transmission since the last software update (04/15).

The only issue I am aware of is the integrated trailer brake controller. More info in this thread;

I have my 2014 I've done the updates but it still shifts pretty crappy but it tows well.

I want a 3500 as I am towing a lot of weight but I haven't gone to test drive a dually yet. I don't know how much rougher the 3500 Dually will ride.

I did test drive a 2016 F350 Dually 4x4 and it had a really nice ride. Surprisingly nice ride. Good throttle response. I hear a lot of people on here complain that the 3500 RAM ride like a skateboard. I have yet to find out.

I drove a new 350 and liked it, but wanted to try out the dodge before I decided, but the local dodge dealer is a joke. How is the quality of everything else on the trucks? Had a guy at work tell me his buddy had one and it seemed cheap, but you can't trust everything he says either. Thanks.

Cheap, wow, never heard that as a description of the new RAMs or any of the new heavy haulers. Before I ordered my 3500 RAM I looked at and drove the Ford and the GMC. They all ride hard but what do you expect, a Cadillac ride from a truck that can pull 30,000 pounds and carry upwards of 4,000 pounds.

For my needs, a SRW 3500 works so that is what I ordered. I chose RAM for the quality of the interior, the proven track-record reliability of the Cummins 6.7L, RAM's 5 year, 100,000 mile power train warranty, and RAM offered the rear air leveling system. My needs were pulling a 15K pound fiver around the country for the next few years.

It is all subjective, you buy what you like, all three will pull just fine. Only RAM offers the longer power train warranty, wonder why.

His buddy could of had a tradesman. So for someone who didn't know what a tradesman is, it could seem cheap.

2015 3500 Mega Bighorn w/ 6.4- owned since April. Truck has been great, very happy with it. No issues so far. The ride is stiffer than the 2500 but not bad considering it has a payload of 4200#s. I used to have a '97 F350 PSD and the new ram rides like a dream compared to that; not exactly apples to apples since the Ford was older but still a 1 ton.

not exactly comparing apples to apples, or even current offerings, but I drive an 09 f350 with 13k miles at work and it steers an rides like dog crap. My 01 Ram3500 dually with 205k miles steers and drives circles around my work truck.
