Hey all, drove 224.5 miles yesterday up to a distant town to pick up some parts and back. Nearly all hwy miles, mostly interstate-style, other than some through-town miles, some stop signs, etc. No cargo. I got right at 17.0 mpg. (5.7 Hemi, 6 spd, 4x4, 3.55 gearing, not a lot of options, tires properly inflated) which is about what I got the last time I checked it. It runs fine and great AFAIK. On this run it was not in ECO mode all that much due to terrain/winds, or whatever. Sometimes it was, other times not. Speed was generally 68-73 mph.

My old reg cab 89 GMC 4x4 with all the options and 5.7 throttle-body, 4-spd, similar gearing, original dual-bed bead-style catalytic converter and about 275k mi ....gets almost the same or a scootch better! Every time I've checked it in the past for 'average' mileage it was around 16.5 and I've gotten fairly high on straight interstate driving especially if I 'draft' a semi! But overall, most of my driving is hwy.

I was going to rant about the technology not being very effective, but I just went out and looked at the doors and it appears the dodge is about 1000 lbs heavier (6600 lbs). Didn't realize there was that much weight difference (if I'm reading the stickers right). There's a lot greater use of thinner metal, plastics and aluminum than my GMC, but OTOH, trucks in general have increased about 15% larger in size too over the years!!. And sure the Dodge has about 200 more hp. I was driving like an old lady to see if I could get greater MPG.

How are you guys getting 22mpg? Are they 2wd trucks with 6 cyl/8spd getting that? Can you get greater with a 5.7 4x4 6 spd?

At the end of the day I need a tk for the kind of work I do and I'm really happy with this tk. I'm surprised mpg on a flat interstate hwy isn't greater.

I was able to average about 21 mpg highway hand calculated when I had my stock tires on. 2016 QC 5.7 4x4 8-speed 3.21. Currently running a mud tread pattern and I'm averaging about 18 mpg highway. I have found that keeping my truck from activating MDS, I actually get better mileage.

I have a 2015 Ram QC Sport, 5.7L, 8-Spd, 3.21 R&P, Hard Tonneau Cover, Corsa Cat-Back exhaust, OE Filter/Intake - and I get low 20's on long highway runs using 87 octane fuel.

I am right around 31k miles and have a running Avg MPG at around 15 MPG. 80% of my driving is spirited local back roads.

I've been pretty happy with my mileage, especially with the 32 Gal tank I get 2 weeks of local driving between fill ups. With my 2010 Jeep GC (also 5.7L w/Volant CAI, 3" Cat-Back & Flowmaster) I was getting local averages at around 12 MPG and had to fill up about every 5 days.

I have a 2017 CC Bighorn 5.7 3.92 limited slip diff. It has just under 3000 miles and I get 22 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined. The first tank was around 16mpg.

I have a 2017 Laramie long horn, cc shortbox 4x4 , 3:92 gear with a leer top. At 75-80 mph I get around 16.5 on the dash. I have not hand calculated yet as I only have 4500 miles on it

2015 RAM Sport 5.7L standard bed crew cab stock suspension 4x4 3.21 rear end stock motor. I've gotten 22 average mpg on my economy meter during multiple 7 hour drives over the summer between NE FL and eastern NC. Filled up a full tank and reset meter before starting the trip and could have made it the whole way on one tank of gas. Economy meter showed 500 mile range at fill up at destination. Drove ~65-70, cruise control, MDS on and MDS off (using gear select) didn't matter 22mpg was the average, instantaneous readings were high as 24mpgs on flat level terrain.

I drive a Pentastar with the 8-speed in a 4x2 short bed. I've never had less than 20 MPG in 40,000 miles. I average about 22-23 MPG.

My '09 CC SLT/Sport with the 5sp gets around 16.5 mixed driving. The one time I've run mostly interstate, it was around 19, but I was also running into the mountains during the last 3rd of the trip. I'm getting pretty good at getting the "fuel saver" indicator to come on.

Easy answer - I hop into my wife’s Ford Edge. ;)

We have one of those too, an '07 Limited. I almost bought an 11 for myself, but couldn't get the deal right. Then I found my truck :party36:

I have 2017 8 speed and I get 21 to 22 mpg with a pedal commander.

I just installed pedal commander in my 2016 Hemi. Still trying to decide if it's worth keeping pedal commander? What mode do you use to get 21-22? I'm lucky to get 14.5 in city 18-19 highway. Winter gas also seems to be impacting me more this year than last year.

Never gotten 22 mpg. In the warmer months, if I keep highway speeds to 70-ish, unloaded I've gotten 21. Thats with the MDS turned off via the paddle shift switches. With MDS left operating, best I've gotten is 19-ish. When I let my speed creep up to around 75, I'm usually in the 18's mileage-wise. I don't bother to look at around town mileage, as it's never good. This in a CC, 6.5' bed 4x4 with 3.92 gears.

22 mpg?!?!

I've never broke 20 mpg.

17 Ram 1500 RCSB 5.7l 4x4
3:92
89 fuel only
MDS On or Off never made a big enough difference to say which is better.

Now that I'm lifted 4" on 35" tires, I haven't broke 14 mpg.

probably 1'' lift, hard tonneau cover, no nerf bars

20 mpg when driving flat highway
14 mpg flat curvy roads with potholes (almost every street here)
11 mpg day lon Stop 'n go in the capital
lowering her to standart height and smaller tires probably help with fuel consumption

Add us to the edge owners club. My wife has an 08 Limited. My Ram 1500 crew cab 4x4 gets pretty much the same gas mileage. I get as much as 22 mpg on the highway and average 17.5 in town.
