Whenever i put on my air (hot or cold), there is an awful smell. One day a piece of what looks like a rats nest flew up one of the vents, so i took off my blower motor to discover more small bits of a nest. Is there any good way to clean the ducts? I would rather not pull the whole HVAC box behind the dash if i can.

If there is a nest, or excessive buildup, you are just gonna have to take it apart. There is no cleaning the heater core or evaporator without taking it apart.

You could try a strong vacuum like a Kirby or a shop vac.

You could try spraying Lysol into the ducts.
