HOW TO: Upgrade Projector low beam bulbs to LED without breaking the bank

Found a quality LED kit that works for our trucks with projector low beam and doesn't break the bank. This kit is about $69 and doesn't throw a code or a light on your dash. Also doesn't require hacking up your harness or headlights and is all plug and play and a clean install.

The title says HID, the video shows LED.

Which is it?

How has it been for you so far? No issues at all in the past month and much brighter? I have a 2017 and was wondering how something like this will work. The lights are great, but if this is an improvement it would be worth it.

They are still working great no issues!!!

I can't edit the original post so here is the link to the video. Mods should really fix all the broken links from when they switched from the old website to the new....

Cool, good to hear. I was wondering if there would be any heat issue with everything closed up in the housing like that. I like some of the switchback kits for the signals, but since I just bought this truck, I'm not ready to have someone pull the whole lamp apart, so I'm sticking with the bulbs I can replace myself. Thanks for the video... and the links!

Interesting... my 2017 RAM 1500 Sport has the HB3/9005 for both high and low (Projector) bulbs. I found a 9012 LED bulb, ordered it, it won't work. oh well.... now I know how to replace the bulbs. haha

9012 would be for the fogs 9006, gotta trim the tab to work. 9011 is for the headlight 9005 high/low and have to trim a tab on those too. I put the 9011 in my lows and it does make a difference.

That's confusing... not sure what you're saying there.

I posted photos of my bulbs:
My Headlamp is 9005 (four bulbs total) for both low (projector) and high beam.
My Fog lamp: 9006 (two bulbs total)

Watch the video that Boosted posted. Jump 3:21 where he says that the low beam for the projector bulb is a 9012, and that "most kits that you're going to get are 9006"

Since the RAM has had projector bulbs (2013), I'm showing up through 2015 RAM 1500 has a 9012 headlamp bulb for projector (low) and a 9005 bulb for the high beam.
2016-17 shows a 9005 bulb for both high and low headlamp.
All (2013-2017) show a 9006 for the fog lamp bulb

Since the 9005 and 9006 are standard bulbs and readily available, there's no point in buying the incorrect bulb and trimming the tabs - just buy the correct bulb and they fit just fine. Boosted has a 9012 in his because it's a 2014. I was posting that the 2017 does not have the 9012 bulb.

This is where I'm getting my info from, reasonable prices, too:

The bulbs are $99 plus $10 each for the cancellers.

For another $15 you can get a DDM tuning 55W hid kit and do it the right way

What I’m saying is you have an option. Forgetting everything about previous models your 2017 projector headlights have 9005 bulbs low and highs. 9011 HIR bulb is a direct replacement offering 500-600 more lumens than the useless 9005. Same with the 9006 in your fogs, convert to 9012s. All you have to do is trim one tab on the bulbs to fit. Many on the forum have done the same and it cost me $70 to do all six. Read the link below.

You're referring to light output on standard bulbs, I'm talking about LEDs. The LEDs I mentioned all put out 4000 lumens, according to the manufacturer. They designed the bulbs to be a direct replacement, high-output LED. This whole thread is not about replacing with the HIR bulb, it's about replacing with LEDs.
