I shot my first hand gun on Saturday,my husband Charlie's 9mm Bersa. He was teaching me how to defend myself using a gun.I learned very well and one was don't ever assume a gun is not loaded. My husband was amazed,I shot very well for a first time hand gun shooter and he sees this once in a while.I was not scared at all.My husband is a defensive shooter instructor. He said I am ready for the next step, the concealed weapons class and I plan on signing up for one tommorrow which happens in a couple weeks.I was even out tonight shooting a few rounds and I am doing better.I admit my husband was right,I needed to learn to defend myself if I ever have to use deadly force. He praised me too and saw I did good.

Just remember to use a good, strong grip and lean forward.

    Good job. :)

Nice, handgun cherry popped! I have learned practice practice practice. Every handgun is different and respect all as loaded. The other thing most people need to work on is flinching. Buy some snap caps and have your husband load the gun so you can work on calm trigger pulls.

In most emergencies someone's instinct is to grab there weapon and call 911
If you have the time/ability to call 911 do it but as soon as you feel you may need to use the weapon drop the phone and keep two hands on the weapon

    Congratulations!
Shooting is a lot of fun. You are fortunate to have a husband who knew how to train you without ruining it for you.

    ^+1 to that, Stang.

If you have the ability to, use speaker phone, that way dispatch can hear everything and you can use both hands.

My husband even said to use both hands.I know where one kill zone is,the heart.Husband told me if I shoot at the heart, the attacker is dead on the spot bleeding to death.I was sexually assualted when I was 19 years old and this is one reason I wanted to learn this so this does not happen again. My husband and his friends say I am going to be like this woman in this glock commercial, messing with the wrong woman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1cZdvJUf-k

Sweet!! I know I have posted this before but for her sake, this is what I carry at all times!

    9mm Smith & Wesson.

I would also suggest you take some Krav classes and learn self defense. Sometimes your pistol is not around! I understand about the assault. I am trained to kill. Never again. I will plant his ass 6 feet under.

Plus having the muscle size of a female WWF or American Gladiator helps.:death: No one comes 5 feet near me without reservations.
