Install new rear shocks or leave old ones

My brother is a mechanic and he installed my Maxtrac 4.5 front 1.5 rear lift no problem, but he said my old rear shocks on the truck can stay on and didn't replace with the new ones Maxtrac sent with the kit.

What would be the benefit of installing the new shocks ? If the one ones can stay on...

Also my truck rides great with the new kit.

I didn't replace mine when I had only the 1.5" on the back. You should be fine

stock shocks suck. i would change them.
