Anyone ever done the iPad dash in their ram?? Been looking into them lately and really thinking about going with an iPad instead of doing a double din with apple car play features!

You will have to still run a head unit or get a Bluetooth amp

I've seen it done, but you have to mod the dash yourself to fit it in, and I;m not at all sure about the hookups.

if you go on youtube and search for soundmanca, he does ipad dash kits. You can see what he did for his F150.

I’ve seen it in a modified way in a friends 300 but I hear the ‘19 rams are supposed have a 13” touch screen

It's actually 2 8" screens put together. Pretty neat idea, but if I was buying one, I wouldn't want it. But then I wouldn't want the iPad either, but I have a thing about apple products. I thought about building another carputer, but in reality, I hardly used the capability of the last one. An aftermarket unit would do the same and be easier to install.

I would just buy the new Ram. I had iPad in my dash in my Challenger, more of a cool factor that provided less usable (driving) functionality then a dedicated radio.

Definitely made my decision for the iPad dash. Not gonna happen when it could cost easily 5k to get it all done after buying everything for it and having a shop do all of the work. I’ll just stick with my stock radio and eventually upgrade to a new screen! Lol

yeah, its not cheap to do right.

Then there is the part of having to replace the iPad once the old one becomes unusable.

Wow, that's some serious $$.
Oh yeah. I didn’t figure it to be that much but once the guy was naming all of the stuff that I have to buy and he said it would take about 2 days of work to mold everything into the dash and make it look perfect. He basically told me there is no advantage of having an iPad over a regular aftermarket screen. So I made my mind up on that idea real quick lol

Yeah, I think my carputer was around $500 with the 7" screen which fits in a standard double din bezel. It'd be a cool novelty, but hardly worth all the effort.

The shop I was talking to about the dash was over here in Houston. He told me instead of the iPad, he can do a nice pioneer 7 inch screen, dB drive component sets all around, amp for the doors, all installed for less than $1800. That’s all the parts, labor, and accessories I need. And he gave me a demo on the dB drive speakers and holy crap those are the loudest speaker I have ever heard in my life! And I’ve been around car audio for a long time

dB drive are not great speakers. At $1800 that better be the Pioneer 8200. Even then the quote is still high.

At times like this, I'm glad my hearing isn't so hot - I'm pretty content with the Alpine system in the truck now.
