I've finally finished installing a RAM1500-230 onboard air system with triple train horns from Kleinn Air Horns on my 2011 Ram 1500 SLT so I thought I'd share it with you. It's a vehicle specific kit as it includes all hardware, brackets, connectors, wire, relays and detailed instructions. The whole kit mounts to the front frame just behind the bumper and is virtually unnoticeable. An accessory kit that includes a 1/4" quick disconnect and 20' coiled air hose and chuck with bag was also included.

Overall, a very well engineered system and the triple horns are loud as hell. I chose to keep the stock horn and run a separate circuit with a piggyback fuseholder from circuit M33 to power both the compressor relay and horn solenoid. The compressor is controlled via the 30A relay and a pressure switch that is only powered when M33 is energized with the ignition on.

I have no affiliation or interest with Kleinn Air Horns.

Thanks fellas. I wanted to do this to my F150 years ago when I had it but never did, I was determined to pull the trigger on a kit when I bought the Ram.

It takes considerable restraint to avoid using it unnecessarily it like a hooligan but, I will say that it DOES get a person's attention when it's used in a...ahem...responsible manner. The convenience of having a portable, ready air source ain't bad either. I've already used it for some poor souls at work that had flat tires in the parking lot.

Will post video of it in action this weekend.

If anyone has install questions, I'd be happy to oblige.

Looking the kit up and that brings up a whole different bracket and lay out. Im trying to figure it out but that is behind the front bumper mounting on the horns.

Correct William, the horns mount to a bracket that bolts to the inside of the left frame nose and the compressor/tank is mounted in the same way but on the right side.

I was skeptical at first that there was enough room but Kleinn did their homework and everything is pretty well protected from damage (with exception of a head-on collision) as everything sits at frame level behind the bumper.

Ive installed a few Klein systems and they are usually tight as a drum but they were F-150s so the compressor was on the frame rail under the passenger door, and the horns were under the bed in front of the axle.

The picture on the Klein website looks amazing compared to what you get. It looks like 1 solid bracket that goes between the rails with everything all on 1 part!

Not sure why, but that photo from their website is not representative of the new mounting system that I received, they now use two separate brackets.

Agreed. I could definitely buy all the components included in their kit cheaper myself but I'd still have to engineer, fab and powder the mounting brackets. For the money, they include it all and all I had to do was spend a Saturday wrenching.

Could have used that on my morning commute today. @$$wipe in an Audi rockets up in a merge lane on the right and wizzes in front of me with inches to spare while a Doofus in the left lane is coming over into the same spot. If I hadn't eased up on the throttle when I spotted @$$wipe and Doofus converging it would have been a three way fender-blender.

Somehow a single digit salute just failed to express my anger and frustration.

A train horn definitely would have gotten my point across!!!

I have a set (HK-9) that I've yet to install. Still trying to plan where to put it all.

I wanted this until my friend said “if the guy behind you honked at you with train horns on what would you do?”

I said I would either brake check him or something stupid to retaliate back.

He said..:eek:hh road rage I see...

I said yeah I guess so.

With that said. I’m not getting a train horn. lol.
