I get a stipend from my company for use of my personal vehicle.

Part of the agreement is a $1,800 reimbursable allowance towards maintenance and repair. Since my truck is a 2017 and has free oil changes for two years, I've yet to really use any maintenance money on it. I am also allowed to reimburse my tag and insurance but even with that I will only use about $800 by the end of the year. The remaining balance does not roll over to the next year. So I need some advise on items that I can buy that might technically fall into the repair and maintenance category without being unethical.

Here is what I am thinking:

-Replacement stubby antenna - my is legitimately bent
-Windshield wipers - not ready for replacement but can go ahead and buy to put on next spring.
-Extra windshield wiper fluid

Any ideas on what else I could use this allowance on?

Filters, hoses and belts would be considered maintenance items.

So would brake pads, wipers, transmission fluid, oil, diff lube.

Wouldn't hurt to change differential fluids - lots of little bits from fresh gears floating around in there.

Kind of a stretch but would they let you put that money towards an extended warranty?

Thanks for the ideas. Is it worth buying new exterior or interior bulbs?

Show proof that not having one has resulted in problems. You can't. You also cannot prove that having one has prevented any problems.

I second an extended warranty! Could save you cash in the long run.

Why try to take advantage of a generous company that he chose to work for? If he has a legit maintenance issue or repair then use the stipend. Otherwise, buying things for issues he doesn't have is bs.

Not sure your company's policies, but I've worked for fortune 100 companies ...in the old days rules were pretty relaxed, but these days I wouldn't chance a thing that pushes the rules into the gray area. I can tell by your demeanor you understand that.

It seems like your truck is perfect so far, but you really want to find something on it to replace /change because of the reimbursement.
The way your thinking might come and bite you later on. If it’s not broken let it be.
Good luck

If it’s not broken, no need to start replacing stuff just because u get reimbursed. It’s a new a truck after all. Those that tend to abuse the system usually end of screwing it up for everybody.

Not sure where you live... But you could by yourself some used wheels and sensors, then expense some winter tires. This wouldn't be abusing the system, as winter tires are much safer than all season tires during the cold winter months (they perform better in cold in addition to snow).

This would make the factory all season tires last longer.
