Yeah it was a work truck going all over the US. The previous owner said it's been to about every state excluding Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, and Wyoming. It's an excellent truck and me being 16 it is my first car. It was my dad's at 190K when he bought it for $1000 in 2010 with the trans blown the first time. He rebuilt the trans and drove it until about Fall 2013 when the trans had blown up again and it sat and is now on a full functional salvage transmission and I have bought it from my dad. I'm getting my license in a few weeks so I figured I should join a forum and this place looks awesome :)

I sold my '04 1500 a month ago, QC Hemi - 212k miles with all original drivetrain.

My dad is still driving his 3rd gen. It's a 2003 2500 SLT, QC, long bed, 4x4, Hemi....378k miles and counting with original drivetrain. His 1996 1500 with the 5.3 had 280k when he sold it.

Neither of us have had to replace anything major on our engines and zero repairs on the trannys.

Wow, sounds like these Hemi's will last a long time as well as you maintain them.

I think the main thing is just being meticulous on oil changes. I think I only had one oil change where I went more than a thousand miles past the usual 3k changes I'd do with conventional oil, and I started using Mobile 1300 Delvac 15w-40 after I hit 100k miles.

Hello all, new user of this forum. 122,010 miles on my 2002 Ram 1500, 4.7L which I have owned ~14 hours at the time of this post.

I bought this Ram to replace my 2000 Durango which had 228K on it when someone decided they wanted my lane more than I did....

Yeah,....I was thinking the same thing.
I change my oil every 5k or sooner because I use the Mobil 1 synthetic and really had no problems with my truck other that the stupid EVAP issue. Other than that,...it's been really awesome. I have a little rust on the rear bumper and tailgate and the driver's side seat is starting to tear, but the truck is 10 years old. :favorites13: :favorites13:

Yeah I'm very skeptical about maintenance so my truck should outlast. Hell maybe 30 years from now I'll be "restoring" it with the engine intact LOL. I cant say much about the treatment from the guy who had this before my dad and I but we've changed the oil about every 3.5K with Valvoline 5W-30 MaxLife synthetic and it is still an excellent motor at 213K. Never left us stranded and has never acted up and this thing will still break the tires loose and lay a patch of tire treads no problem haha.
