I’ve been waiting for these things to release since the summer. Finally got them today and popped them in. Installation was a breeze. Haven’t found a good way to mount the resistors so I used zip ties. Hopefully they don’t melt. I left the lights on for 20 minutes and they were still holding strong. If anyone has a better way to mount them please let me know. I do have a little tip myself though.

(UPDATE: I thought of the idea of buying four key rings. Attaching them to each mounting hole of the resistors. Then use zip ties around the key rings instead of the resistor mounting holes.)

On the new housings when you install the spring place a washer between the spring and the plastic. They made the opening in the plastic too large so the spring kind of digs into the plastic pretty awkwardly and I can see it being a problem with wear down the road (Pictures below).

Pretty satisfied with the light output. If you’re looking for brightness do NOT use the laminX. If you’re looking to have the fog lights work like fog lights DEFINITELY USE the laminX. (Reason why below)

The look on the truck is amazing. Gives the truck a cleaner look by getting rid of the chrome reflector housings. Goes perfect with my color scheme. I definitely do not have any complaints about these lights. The beam pattern is gorgeous and way nicer than my GTR Gen 3 bulbs I used previously. I would definitely recommend these fog lights.

Credit to Jeremy at the retro shop for sitting on the phone with me explaining the lights and install in detail before I placed my order.

LaminX applied.

Here’s the new housings with the spring installed without a washer. Notice how sloppy the spring sits in the housings. cd8ae3a8ca2517e1d5759eb0bffe2510.jpg

Now here’s with a washer installed. ce49ddc411477e0c36bd151315cce6a0.jpg

Here’s how the new assembly should look. fdc931a71bcf4ced87dd79f6bc53b409.jpga79c9b0690b247c2e2a603f2ed0f7b84.jpg

Xb vs gtr gen 3 beam pattern. The new housing is just sitting on the ground. That’s why it looks funky. 3f373e28200e802b35da6ad595bd1cf1.jpg

Here’s an example of why the laminX is so useful. In this picture it is snowing extremely hard. With the laminX there is no bright white light reflecting off the snow back at your eyes. e3c730fb66216daeaa16359182279d63.jpg310bc9c7d3c55ab1aa2429dcc4544f07.jpgd11d6c41d5747dee7ad683d142de618f.jpg92e076e8b46f9f1e187c592b475d8f1e.jpgb6ce440fd40fbbebbfd50f42539ba6d2.jpg

I like that! Goods really good. Do they make that for the 2500s? My fog lamps are the only chrome on my truck. Wish they were blacked out like the headlights.

They make the horizontal and just came out with the vertical. They make styles fit all models of ram trucks.

Thank you for this review! I was waiting for someone to post a review before ordering myself.

I got 1500 with stock lights. Not projectors.

My problem is that when I drive fast around dark highway, I can't see far ahead and I don't want to use my high beams as it'll blind people.

Can I use these lights to help me see far while driving fast? Seems like they're designed to be aimed low, but can I just aim them higher so it'll work like a high beam and light up far ahead when I'm driving fast on a dark highway?

Thank you

They’re definitely designed to aim low. Their purpose is to light the sides of the road instead of out in front of you. So when you’re in fog they help you see the edges of the road. This is also how these lights are designed. If you aim them high the usable light diminishes. They’ll probably reach farther forward without the laminx film though.

Very cool. Thanks. Price is reasonable too.
For a completely new housing yes, it’s very fair. They don’t cost anymore if not less than aftermarket housings that are only good for appearance and not performance. Unless it’s the cheap crap carid sells.

Very good review. I opted not to get the lamin x thinking it would stick out when off like a sore thumb but it definitely appears very subtle. Also very good explanation on what a fog light is meant for..

What size washer did you use? 1/4"? Mine are "supposed" to be here today.

Not even sure I had them in my mix and match bucket. I’d say it’s more like a half inch. Size isn’t a big deal though. Just as long as the spring sits on it.

I think the purpose of them is to not have that big lens. It will be slightly harder to clean than stock, but nothing crazy you can reach everything.
