Is there a way to manually program new key fobs or do I have to have the factory scan tool to program? 2010 2500

It can be done, but I think you need to have at least one good fob to do it. If you have an owners manual the steps for your truck should be in there. But if you don't have a good fob now, you will need to have the dealer do it.

I have one good one but no owners manual. Just bought this truck and it only came with one fob and an empty glove box

Here is a link to a 2010 owners manual if you want it.

www.dodge.com/download/pdf/manuals/2010-Ram_Truck-OM-2nd.pdf

The manual doesn't say how to do it that I could see though. But I found this online, not sure if maybe it wasn't possible with your year, but you can try it. I know other years they can be programmed with one good fob.

Programming The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Module
1. Unlock the vehicle and disarm the Vehicle Theft Security System.
2. Insert ignition key into the ignition switch.
3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN position without starting the engine.
4. Using a functional key fob transmitter, press and hold the UNLOCK button for a minimum five seconds (maximum ten seconds).
5. While still holding the UNLOCK button, and before ten seconds passes, press the PANIC button and release both at the same time. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module is set to receive the new Vehicle Access Code(s).
6. Within 30 seconds of the chime, press and release the "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" buttons on the transmitter at the same time. Then press and release any one of the buttons. The BCM will sound an abbreviated chime to acknowledge that the programming of the transmitter has been completed and was successful.
7. Repeat step 6 for all transmitters that will be used with this vehicle, up to 4 total.
8. Programming mode will last for 30 seconds. To get out of programming mode sooner, turn the ignition OFF. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module will no longer accept additional Vehicle Access Code(s).
9. When Vehicle Access Code(s) programming is complete, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and verify RKE system operation using each key fob.

The panic button is at the end of the fob which is the "key" so you physically can't reach it if the key is in the ignition. Thank you for looking!

From what I get from the instructions you place the one you are attempting to program in the ignition and the good one is where you do the pressing. Correct me if i'm wrong tho.

You use to be able to program your own key fob but you had to have 2 fobs that were already programmed, won't work with only1. Sometime around 2010-2011 they took that ability away and now you have to have a locksmith or the dealership program the fobs.

+1

I bought my 2011 used and it came with one key. Grabbed a blank/fob on eBay cheap, got local locksmith to meet me on lunch break. He cut a key and programmed for me for $60 in 10 minutes of his time. Key/fob blank was $27 to the door.

The cutoff is 2011, I unfortunately had to pony up $93 and 2 hours of my life to have extra gobs made. They did offer to do as many as 3 keys for that hour charge...

So I could likely program a 2009 fob with no issues? Technically I have 2 that work, but one only works to start the truck, the lock/unlock and remote start buttons don't work.

You should be able to since you have a 2009....

This may also help. I had to replace my Wireless Ignition Module (WIN) and got 2 new factory keys in the process. Didn't go thru dealer either and saved over $300.
