New member - In the market for my first truck

Hey Guys,

My name is JD. I'm 36, born and raised in Los Angeles, and have a computer science background.

In 2008, I left everything behind and moved to New York City to pursue my dream of working on Wall Street. I am currently a director at a financial tech company, specializing in algorithmic trading strategies.

Now 10 years later, I'm finally ready to move back to California with my wife and 5 month old son. I bought a house in Redondo Beach, and hope to be there by March 2018.

I was originally going to purchase an F150, but my wife decided on a Chrysler Pacifica, and I figured it would be benefial to buy both vehicles from the same dealership. So I began looking at Ram 1500s, and they are now my favorite trucks.

I'm here to do a little more research before I make the purchase.

Welcome! I came over to Dodge/Ram in early 2015 with a Durango R/T. Moved to my RAM about 4 months ago...absolutely love it!

Welcome! What trim are you looking at and what are your use requirements for the truck?

Good luck I am in the market too looking to upgrade my 2006 ram. From what I have read make sure you buy a truck with the 8 speed trans. From what I read mileage is much better and I believe are a German design now built by Chrysler through a license agreement. There are alot of models still with the 6 speed trans. As for engine its hard to beat a Hemi unless you are towing alot. I have 310,000 km on my Ram and 270,000 Km on my Charger R/T which I was told was 1/4 mile raced by previous owner and still runs super strong.
