Alright, so going on about 2 or 3 months now, my trans has been acting up and not shifting the way it should. When I accelerate from a stop I get to about 30mph or 2800 rpm before it finally shifts, but right before it shifts, it revs up real quick and then drops in. It isn't a hard shift but it's apparent that it's going out. I have gotten a prognosis on it. I believe that it is the rings that tend to expand and shrink on the inside, and then I am afraid that if I keep driving it a ton, that it will send too much pressure to the tranny and cause a catastrophe. The truck ahs 141,000 miles on it, so I am not surprised by this.
SO... I called a local transmission shop that does performance transmission builds, and they quoted me $2000 tops (depending on how bad mine is), for a new tranny with multiple upgrades including a shift kit for towing and and auxiliary cooler installed with a complete cooling flush and all fluids filled and everything installed. This sounds like a good deal to me, but I am wondering what you all think?
