so I'd like some input. ever since I moved to California, I've always bought a new truck atleast every 5 years, no later.
I've been burned bad with the catalytic converter in one of my past trucks that was less than 5 years old. I spent thousands to sort it out only to sell it at a loss. Now, I sell before I need to smog. I've finally come to terms, my bad experience was likely just a 'one off'. so for those who need to smog/emissions test, how long or how many miles do you get out of a newer vehicle before cats become an issue? I'd like to keep my truck as long as it will run but with cats (and electronics) I feel the lesser of two evils is to sell early and get as much resale value as possible rather than get stuck with a money pit.
I'm only at 30,000 miles after over 2 years of ownership. my truck is my tow vehicle not my daily. if I stay on my schedule, I'm looking at about 60,000 or so when I sell. seems like a waste.
any input appreciated.
