Ok guys I got a letter in the mail Stating dodge wanted my truck and yes I have got many of these before. Well the want to give me 13k(which is way more than before) for my truck and I believe I can deff get close to that after they see it. I plan on stripping the truck if I do sell it so no worries on the money lost on mods. Oh and free gas for a year:D well sorta. But my real question is how much were y'all guys able to talk the price down because me and my dad are considering going through with this, possible 2012 ccsb hemi 4x4, maybe lol, also just wondering with my family owning 3 4thgens I am pretty familiar with them but is there something's I deff should get. Oh and anything that I should try to get them to throw in like maybe a tire allowance?:D

they'll give you 13K and then you can pay MSRP on a new one. LOL

Its a ploy to get you there.

Oh I know that, I study marekting and business techniques at school but I want to turn this around on them, see I knocked off 7 grand off my dads 2012 but I felt like I could of went more, now dealing with my money I will find the bottom but wondering where to start. And if they won't budge, I'll just keep modding my little 03 and keep on truckin:D

If you get a big horn or lone star you can probably talk them down more than say longhorn or Laramie because they probably have a lot more of them and less likely people will walk in a pay MSRP on them as they are most common. I would shoot for 8 to 10 off and get what you want on trade. Otherwise it really is just a game. It is like the casino they never really lose.

I sold cars for a few years and I can tell you one thing to do for sure. Go to the dealer without your truck. find the truck you like the most, and work your best deal on that without telling them you are considering trading your truck. There is no reason you can't at least ask to see invoice on the truck, if they won't show you then you can do some research and find out what invoice would be and offer them $500-750 over invoice. Once you get the price down to an acceptable level then you can say hay I wan't to trade my truck. You are in the power seat because you have a nice truck and are not in desperate need of new vehicle. Be prepared to walk away and be happy with your truck and you will find they will work harder to get your business. just my .02

you will not get 13k for your truck at a dealer. Maybe half that. They will try to sell it for that much if it doesn't go to a wholesaler

i paid 15k for my 2002 6 months ago, i know i paid to much. i have seen these same offers around here, we will give you 12k for your truck but you have to pay sticker. so yes you are getting 12k for your pickup but you have to pay 35k+ for what you want with no rebates.

Rebates don't hurt the dealers cut. But they will try and use them as your "discount"

The main changes for the 2002 Ram 1500 were:

Bigger, four way disc brakes for much better stopping power and longer-lasting brake pads and rotors
A frame with hydroformed parts for less vibration and greater capacity
A more friendly interior, with more storage space and facilities for child seats and extra passengers
Four new grilles, one for each body style, the most muscular going with the Sport model
Rack and pinion steering and an independent front suspension, even on 4x4 models, for better handling
Another 40 horsepower in the base V6 as a result of the swap from the 318-based 3.9 liter to the much more modern 3.7 liter engine (the 3.9 had been engineered on an accelerated schedule to power the Dakota)
As of December 2002, much more power in the optional V8 as a result of the swap from the 5.9 liter (360) to the 5.7 liter Hemi.
A side airbag option

I would wait for 2013 if you're going brand new. With that being said you won't get as deep a discount.

Solid advice here. I cant seem to keep a vehicle for more than 2 years (hopefully that will change now) so I have done my fair share of negotiations that end in my favor.
Most of all remember that you don't need the vehicle and be willing to walk away. Make sure they know that as well.

I got $17K for my trade in..it was an 07 4.7 4x4 almost fully loaded with 4x,*** miles. That should give you an idea of what you should get depending on your mileage, year, and package
