im thinking about new tires and wheels. i currently have the factory 20 " rims on my 04 4x4 1500 with if i remember correctly 275-60-20.... i saw this size today and thought they looked cool ... wider than mine but im thinking not much taller .... they were cooper discoverer stt pro 295 55 20 they were mounted on pro comp 20x9 wheels.. offset 0 ..... would that combo fit my truck ? or could i even go up to a 305 ?? a little taller than stok would be cool but deff want wider. should i consider going to a 17 or 18 inch wheel ?? basically ... how big and wide can i go with just a level kit ??? thanks guys, scott

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but with the stock 20's you should be able to run a 35/12.50r20 with just a level. On 17s or 18s, you need either offset rims or spacers to push the tires farther away from the spindle to not rub. That being said, the 295 is around a 33" tire and about 11.5" wide, whereas your stock tire is 33" but a little over 10.5 wide. The 305 would be a little over 34" tall, and around 12" wide. That's about all I can give you, but someone with more rim knowledge hopefully will answer any other questions you have.

I say you put a 6" lift on it and run 35s, though I might be a little biased. Lol

That wheel and tire combo would work just fine, although I would go a little taller as that size is just slightly smaller than what you are running now. Running a 305/55/20 with that wheel will work as well as that's a 33.2" tall tire x 12" wide. You could even run a 33/12.5/20 without problem. My personal preference is that I would stick to around a 34" tall tire.

With the stock 20's you would need a spacer in order to clear a 12.5" wide tire.
Wheel diameter won't affect or determine if you need a lower offset wheel. 17" , 18" ,20", 22" it doesn't matter, it's the wheel width and the tire width that will determine if you need a lower offset wheel, aside from aesthetics.

You can run a 12.5" wide tire no problem, if you are running those (or similar) 20x9 0 offset wheels, level or no level. The level will allow more height, the lower offset wheels will allow more width.

I had 33x1250 federal MT on my 04 1500 with only a level. Factory 20s with no spacers and I had no rubbing at all. Just make sure u replace your front shocks because my factory ones I believe were to short with the level and it rode like **** until I changed them.

hey guys ..... gonna revive this dated thread since im the one that started it to begin with. i dont see any reason to start another ....

so heres what im thinking .....

somewhere between 33 and 35 inch tires ... 12.50 wide on 20 inch wheels with a front end level.

heres my question now .... i want to start looking for after market rims so do i go with 20X9 or a wider wheel ? .. also ... i do have fender flares ... about 2 inches wide so id like to get the wheels "out" a little farther ... under the flare more so what offset should i be looking at ??

also ... they are 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern correct ?? thanks guys
