I could get my oil for free from work, but like you I was brought up with my dad using Castrol...so thats what I use

You mean the Castrol Edge? Yeah, I would put it in the same boat with Amsoil...Amsoil has a very smart marketing strategy, which makes their oil "appear" to be better than they are.

However, there are only so many petroleum additve companies in the world. My oil company (Amalie) uses SOPUS (Shell/Pennzoil) and Lubrizol additives in all our engine oils and we currently have over 30 different labels we package. Between all those labels, the oil is the exact same, the only difference is the marketing.

Ive got RP im my engine, trans and rear end. Buying 17qrts of that RP ATF Max for the trans is expensive.

Just like adam said, ALL ATF+4 is identical. Yep, walmart brand vs Royal Purple. Only difference is the pricetag.

I used to run RP but found that Mobile 1 and a wix at wally world is cheaper and is just as good. Which reminds me anyone with a garage wanna change my oil???? lol You pay gas shop fees and tools. hahahaha kidding

Ran mobil 1 for at least the last 10 years, just started running amsoil now. With it and their filter I am good for 20-25k mile oil changes

Here is what I am running.

AMSOIL - 100% Synthetic 0W-20 Motor Oil (ASM)
AMSOIL - AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters (EaO, Ea15K)

Service interval for oil is 15k for sever and 25k for normal and the eao filter is guaranteed for 25k. I am going to send a sample of my oil out for testing at about 8k to get it checked out. I went with this because I am putting about 1k on my truck ever week right now.
