Oil PSI fluctuation

That was my guess too. Just didn't want to start throwing parts at it if there was a common issue that caused it or not. Guess its cheap enough to swap it out and see lol

Unfortunatlly, there's no way to test the sender that I know of, and your symptoms don't suggest anything else like a no buss failure.

Usually a failing oil pump will have no pressure at idle.

You could hook up a mechanical guage if you have one lying around, buying one would be the same as a sending unit...:birgits_tiredcoffee

Looks like it is the sending unit. Hooked up an old mechanical gauge to it after I got off work and it was reading a steady 42 psi at idle. I'll run by the parts house to get a replacement and swap it out tomorrow morning since I lost about 10 pounds in sweat this afternoon lol
