Im usually a stickler for making sure warranty is not voided, but with oil I wonder how they would be able to figure out exactly what you put in your crankcase.

If you are a "stickler" maybe you want to do some uoa's like every other oil change with mileage noted. They likely wont be able to tell brand in the crankcase, but with a uoa they can tell viscosity. There is a lot of fear out there, but nobody has brought forward a case of using the wrong oil brand and legitimately get denied warranty.

However, if you had a documented histology of the oil usage charted with historical uoa's like you get with a lab like blackstone, there would be like zero chance they could deny any warranty as long as you didn't go over the recommended interval. If you do this once a year, it is like 35 bucks with tbn, cheap way to ensure you have the upper hand in any warranty denial imo.

6 bucks a qrt, very nice price of best oil for the hemi. Do you see the subscribe price? Only 5 bucks a qrt.

I am going to start doing UOAs, truck has just over 40k miles, so would be nice to see what uoa says. I love this Ram truck, can't believe I like it so much. I have a 5th gen SS Camaro highly modded and all I want to do is drive the Ram. Can anyone confirm oil pressure on 2013s up, what is the norm. I seen post about how there's a bypass at over 60 something. But I been watching my oil pressure close and it never goes below around 50 and that's coming to a quick stop, blips to 50 then jumps back up to higher, normal cruising 61-62 , but at wot can go 79. Always have run 5w20, warranty ended about month ago so now free to run whatever. But with truck running so good, hate to change. Zero tick and for some reason truck feels much more powerful than my neighbors 2011 with same mods, only difference is his is 4x4, even he commented how much more power mine had. We both have canned tune and he has k&n cai and I just have a k&n drop in filter.

Hi all right now castroll has magnatec motor oil. It clams that it helps engine ware before the motor warms up. I’m at 65k on my truck and I’m at a loss on what to use. I’ve always used penzoil dinosaur oil, but I’m wanting to switch to synthetic now. I’m thinking penzoil synthetic but not sure any advice would help. Also I’ve always use a K&n oil filter

I got good news for you my friend. Check the link in my signature and it will take you to the oil testing site, 221 oils tested and compared against one another. Freely scroll through all the oils and see how they perform. Enjoy!
But my personnel recommendations are:

Amsoil Signature Series - Synthetic
Quaker State Ultimate Durability (gold label and/or gold cap) - synthetic
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum - synthetic
Valvoline high mileage - synthetic blend
Pennzoil high mileage - conventional

Wix XP - oil filter

All 5 oils I recommend all place high on the oil testing site, and all will serve you well depending on your specific situation. High Mileage, oil consumption issues, driving habit, oil change interval, maintenance history all need to be considered.

You can use any oil you want. It will not void warranty. Its called the Magnusson-Moss act. Google it.

If your dealer told u that u have to run a certain oil. Run away as fast as you can. They feeding u a line of crap. Quarantee, they will try and screw you over one way or another.

That's not how that works. The law was written to prevent the warranty on an unrelated part from being denied, such as a transmission when the engine seizes up due to incorrect oil. If something goes wrong with your engine and you are using the wrong oil spec, the M-M act does not apply.

I love this Ram truck, can't believe I like it so much.

Roger that, I'f I knew how much I would have liked this truck, I would have spent more getting exactly what I want with gears and stepped up to a crew cab. It is a twenty year truck imo, in my life only one other vehicle (bronco) out of the twenty or so that I've owned have I felt as good about. PUP oil is likely the best oil that will keep these vehicles lasting as long as we what them too, built with the influence of FCA for hemi's.

That's true. I would probably use Redline if I wasn't worried about warrenty issues.
5/20 redline is ms6395 compliant, no warranty issue.

All I have seen is it meats the specs. No where have I seen the spec on redline bottles. Am I mistaken ?

Haven't actually looked at a redline bottle, but many of the oils are ms6395 certified on their websites but not listed on the bottle. I think it was Castrol that I actually ask about that and their answer was there is only so much space on a bottle. I don't know how they decide what to put and not put on the bottle.

Look up OEM compatibility on redline on website, for 5w20.. It is not the same thing as a certification, but many oils including the greatest oil in the world m1 don't pay for that cert.

I love the way they classify things, certified, authorized replacement, compatible, meets or exceeds specs. I'm sure " legally" all those terms mean something different, however to the normal person I would think they mean this would be an acceptable oil.

I'm thinking it's whatever works for you. We can debate base oils, additives, pour points, hths, price, availability all day/night long but what it really comes down to is what works for you. Some people have good luck with brand X, others don't, some swear by brand y, that's cool, whatever works.

I have seen this on the RL website. Just not sure if compatible =meets the Chrysler spec of xxxxx. Also not sure if it matters for warranty purposes.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. "Legally " these oil company's have figured out a way to leave themselves an out. Just confusing as hell for the consumer.
