I had tried that and it still didn't work. However it's a story time.
Friday: I used the steps as directed by ramcares to reboot the system. Held the buttons on the steering wheel but the system didn't seem to reboot. Held the knobs as described and th system rebooted. I plugged the phone with 3 different cables to no avail. I attempted to use blue tooth which would only work with a phone call, but nothing changed.
Saturday: I decided to use a trick to reset the truck computer as I would have to do that on an old pontiac of mine. Disconnected the battery for a couple hours and hooked it back up. Ran through the cables and nothing changed. Unpaired my phone and paired it again. Still nothing but phone calls.
Sunday: Frustrated, I attempted one last time, couldn't even get the phone call to come through. Flustered, I assumed I would have to take the truck in to be looked at.
Today: Fired my truck up and plugged my phone into the cable that was in the charging port. Phone did not vibrate as usual to be charged. Opened the arm rest, jiggled the cable and plugged it back. Phone showed charging and I was on my way. After browsing through my channels and nothing really peaking my interest, I decided to try the blue tooth to see if my phone would sync. VIOLA! IT FOUND MY PHONE! Played music and it worked! Decided to plug it into the sync port. As luck would have it, phone vibrated and pulled up on my screen!
So, here is my interpretation of my issue. It's probably a combination of things.
* My phone being culprit #1. My phone has seen much better day in the past two plus years and is very temperamental.
* If you have an iPhone, you can attest to what happens to the charging cables over time. I believe all of my cables are in dire need of being replaced and what caused a majority of my issues.
* While trying to re-sync my phone via Bluetooth, it would be very temperamental and connect to my blue tooth speaker in the house, or my Fitbit that is always on me. Today I just so happened to not have my speaker in range or on and my Fitbit was not with me. Maybe that's why the blue tooth worked? However, take that with a grain of salt as this is most likely not the issue.
* rebooting the software very well could have been the proper fix for this if I had proper cables or may have been unnecessary if I had the proper cables to begin with.
So thank you to all those who had advice, not exactly sure what the issue was. But I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was user, device or accessory error. And not a fault of the truck. Learn from my silly mistakes.
