What up everybody? I’m new here, I just bought my first Dodge truck at an auction a couple weeks ago, it’s a 1992 Ram D150 5.2 318 v8 regular cab 2wd. Anyways.. When I got it home and noticed it was not turning left very much at all, and when I turn to the right the wheel turns wayyy too much. The steering wheel also falls to the right naturally and yet it means it is going straight. Any suggestions? Or tips? I can post pics tomorrow of the steering turning left and right

not sure I'm picturing it correctly but it almost sounds like you pitman arm is not "clocked" right on your steering box.

if the steering wheel is not sitting center like you are talking about it is generally not that the steering wheel or pitman arm are clocked wrong. it is generally that the tie rods are not adjusted right for the truck. it is usually pretty easy to adjust the tie rods to correct it. you mark the adjuster bolts and mark the adjuster. what you rotate 1 adjuster you rotate the other adjuster the exact same until you get the steering wheel sitting just right. i have found a pipe wrench works perfect for adjusting the adjusters.

it sounded less like his steering wheel was a little 'crooked' but more like his wheels were turning way more one direction and not enough in the other direction. but like I said, I could be picturing it wrong. maybe OP could post pics or clarify please?

but i believe the pitman arm can only go on these things 1 way since there is a special line down the 1 side to make sure it goes on 1 way only.

As Crazzywolfie said, the pitman arm can only go on one way. Someone has misadjusted the tie rods. Many people don't understand setting total toe and then straitening the steering wheel on this front end set up. The tie rods need to be adjusted properly as Crazzywolfie mentioned.

didn't even think about this fact. embarrassingly, two weeks ago I just put an entire new steering, including box and pitman on my chevelle. same thing, keyed so it can only go on one way. gotta really lay off them IPAs...

have you checked to see if there is anything between the spindle assembly and lower strut rod on the drivers side. the spindles usually stop when they hit the strut rods.
