Got out on some mild trails while camping with the fellas this weekend. The 8"of snow the first day made it that much more interesting353848003b7ac7909b05eea064ae0f5f.jpg04523c9c77f6c9a891870fb09fad7fa3.jpg5bfb394c3baa03e8ad1c81088309ea81.jpg

So, got into a little trouble today. I broke the golden rule “never explore alone” and explored alone lol. I looked around an old landfill and found myself staring up at a muddy hill I could not climb. Once I got as high as I could I got out and looked around.

Then, as I started to back down the way I came, I started sliding closer and closer to a tree. Once I realized I was only making things worse, I stopped and called for help.

The problem was that I was staring at an open field in front of me and nothing I could have used to winch forward. Going backwards was easy, but the tree proved that impossible. I needed to move forward to avoid the tree, which meant I needed an anchor. My father found an alternate route in the landfill and stayed at the top of the hill and away from all the mud I had to go through and positioned himself so I could use him as an anchor. I put my hitch shackle on his truck and with my winch cable and my recovery strap was able to reach and pull myself (very slowly) to the top of the hill where I turned around and headed back out. My tires were so full of mud that continuing up the hill and leaving the way he came in was not an option.

The worst part was, a buddy of mine with a Jeep and a winch showed up to winch me from the rear to swing my ass end away from the tree, but in the process became stuck in the exact same place I was, so we had to recover him too lol. Three and a half hours after I threw up the bat signal, we were all free of the mud and on our way home.

Sounds like a full day, in the mud.
