You can fit 35s under 2500s stock but they rub a little bit on the control arm due to the width of the tire.
Its kinda funny you mentioned the cuda, my dad has had 2500s before to haul his 70 challenger but went back to a 1500 because it was more truck then he needed

You can fit 35's in a 1500 4th gen too leaving suspension stock. It will only rub in fender bump in drivers side when turning sharp. I tow a lot and no problems but since you plan to tow other cars. I would also do a 2500 as the coils drop quite a bit with 7000 lbs and higher in my experience.

If I did it over again, I would definitely go 2500!

I've got an 08 1500 quad 4x4 with 80k and I've replaced the following in the past 12 months (shocks, upper and lower ball joints, tie end rods and sway bar links). Also add in a driver side lower control arm that snapped because of the raw power of this guy trying to push a 2500 lower ball joint into 1500 (thanks advance auto for giving me the wrong part ).

If you do go w/ 1500 and replace those parts make sure they are greasable and buy quality shocks (Bilstein 5100, etc... ).

All of those parts usually need replaced on 2500 sooner then you would think. Just what you get with non greaseable parts
