So just got a 17 1500 and Ive noticed more times than not, I either have to hold the button down longer than my '15 300S or I have to repress it a 2nd time. Other times It works as it should, 1 press immediate start...

Also the remote start is almost just as temperamental.

Am I the only one?

I have noticed this on my 2500 with the button. It seems to want to be pushed pretty hard/hold for a second for response. My Scat Pack Charger just need a quick tap with a pinky and it would instantly crank. Kinda strange. I havent really noticed this with the remote start on my truck though.

Maybe Chrysler is making the buttons less responsive on purpose? Who knows.

Would be interested to see if anyone else with a '17 or up has this.

You should just have to press it once and let go, it will start the vehicle on it's own after that. Basically, you do not need to hold in the button. It is the same for use with the keyed versions, you turn the key to start and let go right away, it will run the starter until the vehicle starts.

Maybe just press it hard once...

Mine only takes one touch to start. Of course, if it's a cold start, everything comes on but the engine won't turn over until the grid heater is up to temp.

My 17 Laramie, push and release. Starts fine every time. The key fob has moments where it is a little flaky but, that is with the locks.

I agree. I had a 16 scatpack charger i barely tapped and now on my 17 ram I need to push it twice sometimes to start or turn off.

Hi JRam5.7,

If you end up deciding to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed. Just send us a PM with your VIN and let me know!

My first month with my 17 1500 sport I ran into the same issue. I found I was light pushing the break pedal, because that’s all that was needed in my previous car. After a few attempts, I found I had to give the break pedal a good push and not just lights press it down. Hope this helps

Maybe they changed the sensitivity to keep people from barely touching it and accidentally turning off or on

Mine used to take an extra push...then I realized I wasn't pushing down enough...no issues since.

On my 2017 RAM 1500, I figured that I need to step on the brake pedal 'deep' and push the start button 'firm.' It'll start just fine.

Interesting, I recently drove a 2017 Mercedes GLE350 SUV as a loaner-car, and it needed the same on its push start -- step on brake deep and push the button firm.

Same here, if I hold and wiggle the switch or press it towards the top... starts everytime.... otherwise it's press press press again

If you can't dodge it... RAM it!

My 17 Rebel was fickle at first. Since this is my first push button I figured it was just me. As others have mentioned,I believe I wasn't pushing the brake pedal down far enough. No problems now.

I have a 17 and my auto start is on the key fob, I have to press it 2 times within 5 seconds I believe. It only works within about 15 yards.

Love it!

No issues with the starter button here. Starts right up when foot is on the brake and button is pushed
