In case anybody is wondering, Ram Customer Care Live Chat is a waste of time. I can go ahead and tell you now, they don't know how to do anything other than say "take it to your dealer".

That all customer care does, they can assist in making an appointment. How about assist in fixing the problem, owners can make an appointment.

For real. I have the hood "rusting" issue and was trying to figure out who I need to contact at Ram to get it taken care of. I can go to the dealer and let them look at it and tell me that it's not covered all day. Waste of time.

It's at least a documentation trail. Shows you made good faith attempts to discuss a problem.

Maybe one of them should let us know what their scope of authority really is. I doubt that they can lean on the dealers much. Maybe we have the mistaken idea that they are more than an expediter. At least they offer to help which is more than we had before----what ever "help" means.

You are talking to a contract worker that has narrow swim lanes to stay in working off a script.

Even the ones who pop up here are not really of much use nor did I ever expect them to be.

When I dealt w customer care regarding what would become a "buyback" my best success was in constantly trying to escalate it and sending long-winded emails to general support until some caught wind any escalated it.

well, I'm certainly not going to quit. I'm going to follow the correct path and take the truck to the dealer so they can say "blah blah blah, warranty, blah blah blah, normal wear and tear, blah blah blah" and I can get it documented. Then I can go back to customer service and back to the dealer and back to customer service and eventually somebody will get tired of me.

it's not like they haven't heard the complaint before. how many people on this forum alone have the "rusted" hood in the exact same place?

completely unrelated and the bank will remain nameless, but I had a terrible mortgage experience recently. gave them a terrible review when they sent me the survey. lady from the bank called me to discuss it and she was doing her job, but after a while of her playing dumb I asked her to be honest and tell me that she'd never heard of my complaint before. She had, and she admitted it.

So instead of using your dealer network to deny any responsibility, just fix it and move forward. it's quite obvious that they have some sort of manufacturing and/or supplier issue.

I don't think the dodge chat would be useful in any way shape or form without actually seeing the issue. That's what the dealer is for.

Kinda like calling tech support about your (enter name brand laptop here) laptop. The call itself will be from a far away land where everything is scripted, and ur on hold forever. Sometimes, you have to do the face to face, and keep asking why.

Go to the dealer....and show them if they don't believe you, have them compare it to one of the models on the show floor if it's a newer truck

JDW123,

For a rusting issue like the one you're describing, any of our customer service branches will advise you to visit the dealership to get pictures taken and submitted for a warranty claim (or if you're out of warranty, pictures so we can see them anyway). Has your dealer taken any pictures at this point for you?
