I had a problem with my 2005 Ram 1500 with the rear locking up at 68,000 miles. The whole rear and drive shaft were replaced under warantee, then it happened again at 95,000 miles??? WTF
Has this happened to anyone else, it will scare the hell out of you at 60 miles an hour, both times in traffic in Philly at rush hour, dead stop! Drive shaft snapped! Threw it in 4 wheel drive and drug it off the road by the front wheels.
I can't believe I wasn't rear ended by ten cars, both times.
It's probably the same type of rear in a lot of these models, look out!
The pinion nut came loose and jammed the gears, twice??? Stock rear??

Welcome to Ram Forum. Do you have the lsd or open differential?

Sounds like you have the stock lsd which that rear is know to pop the clip and turn everything into hell. Your best bet is to replace the whole carrier and gears.

I have heard of just removing the clip becaust that what was clogging the gears and breaking everything. I am sketch on taking the retainer off myself though becuase I feel like there would be to much play, but thats just me. Im kinda hoping mine lets go so I can do upgrades.
