I'm in the market for a portable air compressor (to refill truck tires) to put in my truck when driving on the beach and to my backcountry hunting/camping spots.

I am also open to frame mounted compressors used for suspension airbags.

What do you use and recommend?

Ive been looking at the VIAIR line of products. They have everything from portables to hard mounted systems.

I bought a cheap VIAIR knock-off from Costco. Stupid me never tested it out. Last fall while packing up and leaving elk camp, I used it for the first time and the thing couldn't barely fill one tire up, after having aired down all week, without having a rest cycle.

I think I've narrowed my search down to these 4 options:

    ARB CKMP12
    Smittybilt 2781
    VIAIR 400P
    VIAIR 450P

Need to do some more digging on reliability, durability, what other accessories will need to be purchased in order to meet my solution needs.

If your thinking of a frame mounted. Viair has complete kits which include the compressor, tank, air hose for tires, etc. The compressor are also 100% duty cycle. Then you would be all set for air bags too

That looks like a sweet kit!

After doing research, I think I will give the portable a go, as I can transfer it between vehicles and not have to purchase multiple onboard kits... for now

I have the Viair 088P, it fits nicely in the under the floor mat storage bin. It is has a lot of good reviews. I've used to to inflate a low tire so I can't say for doing a set of four. It works good and is fairly quick for a portable.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a VIAIR 450P. It looks like it'll fit my needs just fine. I'm going to couple it with an ARB ezdeflator.

I run the Viair 444 with a 5 gallon tank. I run my train horns as well.

I went with the VIAIR 300, as I got a deal on for $80 to my door!

It will hold me over until I put larger sneaks on the truck and need the VIAIR 450P!
