now ya tell me!
I partially learned the hard way... was using an adjustable wrench with painter's tape on em ... then was frustrated with how they were looking so ordered up one -10... I saw they have an adjustable version which may be good further down the line for other sizes

I guess my issue isn't the first fitting, but the second because they are so close together. I was using a 1' crescent wrench. I ended up taking the right front wheel off to get some clearance. Seemed to be easier to get in that way. I also have nerve damage on my left hand, so have NO dexterity on that side.

A cresent wrench isn't probably the ideal tool for getting in and tightening the fittings, lol. I installed my fittings in the filter adapter first, then screwed it onto the engine, trial fitted it first to determine where the hoses would end up pointing, marked things, then pulled the adapter off ,stuck it in a vise, then installed the hose ends and hoses,re-installed the adapter, then installed the remote mount and hoses.30 years of being in the oil and gas industry teaches you a few tricks, lol

my crescent wrench was actually an open end wrench. Shows how deep my knowledge is

Hi indept,

I think you chose the best spot to mount the remote filter base. I see you used the existing holes in the tow hook 'dog legs'. I will probably be doing a filter relocate in near future, and that was the spot I was eyeing.

I had hoped that I could use one of the Mopar 45 degree filter adapters (P/N 77072447 and similar) to make oil filter changes less of a hassle and protect my steering rack electricals. But starting about 2015 (?? judged from online 'does not fit' messages), RAM added a spin-on oil cooler (4893309AA) that's plumbed to my 2018 Laramie water pump and lower rad hose. It blocks fitment of the angled adapter.

Did you consider 90 degree hose ends to get the oil filter vertical ? I know they work sideways too, but I prefer to prefill the filter if I can. Which adapters did you use for the engine and the remote filter base ? I'm looking at some Hamburger's billet parts, but they're rather pricey, and I would prefer a remote base that has the hose connections at the top as yours does. Please share.

@indept as MarineBSP said...VERY nice looking install. It would have been nice to make it vertical, but I think we have to deal with a trade-off....completely protected filter (horizontal) or easy to drain filter (vertical)

I opted to go horizontal to make changing it cleaner. When vertical the oil runs down the side of the filter. I may change it if it's not as ideal a setup as I think it will be when I do the 1st change with this setup. As for prefilling I was surprised that the 1st startup after installing this had no tapping when starting with an empty filter.

Finally finished mine. I have more photos and can generate a parts list if wanted.

Don't do what I did. Dont use hydraulic swivels. 1 near the engine leaked so I replaced with a nonswivel. Then 2 leaked.

Whole kit has been removed and I have the parts to redo with AN fittings. Lucky for me I opted to not go with a change in oil filter threads. I just put my filter back in the original spot.

Yeah defiantly on the to do list.

The 13+ trucks with their electric steering. It ****** me off every time I change the filter oil gets all over the steering rack.

As far as oil pressure my 13 has much higher oil pressure all around compared to my 09 Hemi.
my 16 runs 51-52 going down the road. I've got all the parts for my OFR. But, just changed the oil. Wonder how much oil I'll lose if I just drop the oil filter?

Not too much because the filter.is higher than the pan... I had to remove my relocation mount from the engine a time or two due to a leak... pain in the ass but I have no way of testing prior so just caked a decent amount of thread sealant

I had to redo this....the hydraulic swivels started leaking. I eventually converted to AN fittings and new hose.
That thermal sleeving you see is just fiberglass. It made a mess and got dirty on the first rain.

Hows it holding up now? Any pics or part numbers?

Ok, I own a '16RamQuad,5.7. I have all the parts to make this relocate except the adapter between filter relocation brackets and the AN-10 (black fittings; straight & 90 degree). Will someone help a ******* out and tell me the fitting adapter name I'm trying to find? My relocate kit came with clamp on fittings and I"m gonna use AN10 pipe fittings instead. See photos for the part NAME I need. Someone was asking for a parts list. I've bought all my parts from eBay and list follows. If I'm ******* up, someone tell me. Please. MAGA.
