I've got a 2015 Ram 1500 Big Horn 2wd QC with the 5.7 Hemi. I recently put a 6" RC lift on it and am looking into tires now. It is my understanding that the lift (PN: 32230) clears up to a 37" tire. I also have heard the 3.21 gears with the 8spd tranny are good enough to run a 37. I plan on keeping the stock 20" rims. Will I need to purchase anything extra to be able to run 37x12.50r20 tires or am I good?

You'll need to run a spacer to clear without any rubbing if using stock wheels. Recommend at least 1.5" hubcentric spacer. Check out BORA from motorsports tech.

how wide are the factory rims? My wheel guys said its best to do a 10" wheel on a 12.50...so I changed from my 20x9 to 20x10 when I put mine on.
I know many have, just food for thought

I installed my 35x12.5 on my stock 20x9 rim and I couldn’t get the tire to cut even only in the middle so once I got the 20x10 tires are cutting the way they should I strongly recommend 20x10 on 12.5 rims I speak from experience lol. Or you can just get a 37x11 with your oems

I hear nitto ridge grapplers work great on 2 wheel drive lifted trucks since they dont go off road. They have great reviews. Have you considered them?

I have falken wildpeak on my 2wd and I love it on road and off. It does not wear fast at all and traction off road is awesome I personally would never buy another brand at tire ever again I’m on my second set and they are very reasonably priced compared to others

The first picture is my 35x12.5 on the oem 20x9 if you zoom in you can see the outer edges aren’t making contact and second picture is 20x10 with all contact

Great info here as always. Never would have thought the 12.50 would be an issue with the stock rims. Will probably have to look into after market rims then!

Hate to revive an old thread but I am getting close to time for tires and want to make sure I've got things down correctly. If I put a 20x10 wheel I will be able to run 37x12.50 tires, but what offset is best to go with and will I need any spacers or will the offset correct the rubbing?

I stuck with the 20x9s on my 12.50s. I run a little lower air pressure to get a better ride and traction on these damn short sidewall tires . Lower air gets the tread in better contact with the ground with a narrow wheel. Its been a year now and BFG KO2s are wearing fine and no spacers were needed. I bought 10mm hub centric spacers figuring I may need them but not needed luckily. A 12.50 tire isnt big enough to justify sticking way outside the body of a full size truck . We run 8" wheels on 12.50's on our Jeeps and they wear fine but we only run 24lbs in a 35 .

I have never owned anything but a 4x4 vehicle as as such have never bought anything but off-road tires... I have been told by too many tire dealers to remember that you should never go more than 2" smaller than your tires designated width.

For 12.5" tires, don't go smaller than a 10" wide rim. It -WILL- effect the contact pattern on your tires. Yes, you can "fix" the problem by running lower air pressure in your tires but then you're going to prematurely wear your sidewalls. And do you really want to run back and forth over a sheet of paper to watch your contact pattern every time you check your tire air pressure??

Agreed with what everyone is saying. I have 40000 on my G2's and they are barely worn. I've been wanting 37's but these damn 35's won't wear out. My rims are 20x10 -24mm offset

What about the guys running 12.50 wide tires on 14” wide wheels? Seems to be the dumbest new trend with the younger guys. Tires stick out like 2 feet out of the side of the truck.

I’m running 35 x 12.50’s on my factory 20’s (think they are 9” wide) with no issues. The only thing I had to do was add a wheel spacer to keep the tire from rubbing on the knuckle.

Back in my Jeep days, it was very common to run a 12.5” wide tire on a 8” wide wheel. Maybe it is because of the larger sidewalls (15” rim with a 35 leaves a lot of sidewall), but nobody I knew had strange tire wear issues from putting a 12.5 wide tire on a 8” wide rim.

Oh, here’s pic of my tire/wheel.
