Hello,

Bought a new 2017 ram 3500 a few weeks ago.
Today I was looking under the truck and noticed rust on some parts.
The truck only have 800 miles.
Is this normal?

Appreciate any feedback.

Driveshaft rust is normal as far as I know. I'll let someone else chime in on the other stuff. Whereabouts in Oregon are you located?

That makes me feel a little better.
Im in Bend but can’t wait to get out, getting too crowded and high end for me.
I will spray rust treatment.
Thanks for your feedback.

That's all pretty normal surface rust. Nothing to worry over.

100% normal and theres no need for rust treatment on those parts. They are solid metal and they are untreated. Some say they are designed to have the surface rust as it provides a protective layer, similar to cor-ten steel but I’ve never seen anything confirm that 100%.

For some reason they leave some parts bare metal and they rust. I painted them with rustoleum.

I have new Ram 1500 Lone star 2 months old. 2000 mi.IMG_0608.jpg Here's what the Drive Shaft looks like. I'm told by several Ram service advisors from different dealerships that a Rusty Drive shaft in normal. Mine is very bad. I'm told the rust
works as an anti-corrosive on iron. I guess we'll see. No lift mods in the future so
if it doesn't fail it wont matter.

Yes rust is normal on the 1500 driveshaft. Get under there wire brush and spray some coating on it if you want to pretty it up.
