I have a message on my truck that says “service vehicles air bag” cleared it and it went away. Dealership checked and couldn’t find code, message or problem. Now a month later it just came up again?? Anyone here of an problems??

Might be just a electrical glitch like a bad connection. Don't clear it and have the dealer check it out.

Hi Pa.hemi.ram,

Please don't clear the code! If you can, make sure to take it to the dealership with the active code for further diagnostics.

My truck had that message flash on my dash. I checked connections under driver and passenger seat as well as connections under the hood. Made sure all were tight and squeezed just to make sure. Message went away and hasn't come back for about 3 months.

snap a pic of it, that way you will have a time stamped pic of it with mileage.
my truck 2013 had this happen with 650 miles on it, dealer said that don't see any thing wrong, well last time that was said I pulle out the pics, about 8 of them, well that changed there tune and they started a ticket on it.
turned out to be a clock spring
this was back in sept. of 2013
good luck with repair

I bought my 13 Ram 1500 used. Day I got it home a “service air bag” message came up a few times. Toyota dealer where I bought it cleared it then made me appt with dodge garage. So when it went to dodge there was no code or message. They looked truck over found nothing. Hasn’t done it for a month. Today while my wife is in passenger seat the red light comes on dash telling someone is sitting in passenger seat. The air bag message came up every mile for about 25 miles. We get out of the truck and eat. When we are on our way home no messages and red light wasn’t on dash telling me someone was in the seat. What you guys thing? Air bag sensor on passengers side setting it off? Bad thing is message comes then goes right back off?

Bad thing is the message comes up then clears itself so I don’t have a record of it...it will do it in fits. Do it one day like crazy every half mile then won’t d for a week or two. Yesterday was first time it did it that bad. And I noticed that light not being on for passenger side airbag.....still have used car warranty for another month so want to figure something out before it costs me THOUSANDS down the road on my tab.....Dodge already said not covered under their warranty because I have 40k miles on it.

Gotta be something with weight sensor in seat for my passenger air bag. Light is on when no one is in the seat once and awhile?? Red light means someone is in the seat right?? Or am I thinking backwards?

The message doesn’t stay on the truck. Comes ad goes. Took it to dealer last month and of course no codes or messages?! I’m going to check passenger side connections tomorrow maybe....

Why would they clear the code then send you to the dealer? Clearing the code erases any evidence of the fault. If the light has come on again since it was cleared and no one has cleared it again there will be a stored code. Get the codes retrieved by the dealer. The side thorax wiring harness is a common fault.

It goes from underneath the seat to the thorax airbag in the seat.

Is it normal for red icon light to be lit up when no one is in the seat or should it be red when someone is in the passenger seat??

Checked all my connections and wiring under seat today. Yesterday when I drove it everywhere.....and nothing...4 days prior the truck “dinged” EVERY mile for about a half hour saying “service vehicle air bags”. Little message goes away. Prob comes and goes every few days. If there is no message can the dealer still look it up? Hasn’t thrown a code or anything like that. Just a message that doesn’t stay on the truck. Little red air bag seat icon comes and goes too

If the light even comes on for 2 seconds there will be a code stored. So your dealer will be able to see that stored code.

Our 13 Ram CC does this as well. I know the cause but havent gotten around to fixing it. Just an FYI all yellow connectors under the seats are airbag related. My issue is one of the yellow connectors under the passenger seat becomes just loose enough to lose the connection when a hard bump is driven over. Ive read some use new connectors. Im going to try and see if i can somehow get the current connectors/wires to remain tight together.
