Do any of the 5.7 shorty headers work for the 6.4? I don't want like long tubes

I don't believe so because the 6.4 uses an egr system. Wait for the Viking to answer. He will know 100%

LOL, that's correct. Any 6.4 headers have to have provisions for EGR.

I don't believe that an EGR system has been used on the 5.7 since the VVT motors were introduced. I'm not sure it was ever used in an HD application.

I put the oval jeep srt8 6.1 manifolds on my older square port 2006 jeep 5.7. No provisions for the EGR so I had to grind a path on the flange for the EGR flow. I thought in 2009 the EGR left the manifold and was integrated into the cylinder head.

Correction--- they were srt d shaped ports... not oval

I would go with longtubes, I just don't want to have to remove them in 5 years when the truck has to get smog tested. Plus, would rather not aftermarket tune the truck right now.

I put Gibson shorties on my first truck, a 2001 Sierra 5.3 at 20k miles. I saw the truck and new owner... 3rd or 4th owner by now... and the truck still going strong with 200k+ miles with the shorties and no tune. With a full 2.5" Gibson duel exhaust and shorties it lost low end, but was a rocket on the top end. i took the duel exhaust off and put the stock back on and the truck felt very strong with just the headers.

I would like to add the shorty headers and keep stock exhaust on this ram, I think it would help performance from what I saw with the Sierra 5.3 and would pass inspection too.

You are correct, but the 6.4 HD motor reintroduced it in a much more elaborate form. Just to make our life more difficult.
