Hey guys pretty new here! Proud owner of a 2017 1500 4x4.

The 4x4 lowering thread is honestly just to long to read all the replies and I have been browsing it for a while.

My question would be what's the simplest easiest way to lower these 4 x 4's. Notice I didn't say cheapest because if there is a more expensive option out there but it makes it simpler and more reliable I'm all for that.

I would like my truck to retain some towing capabilities as I have about a 3500 pound boat with trailer. And a 3000 pound race car with trailer.

Any and all help would be appreciated I know a lot of these threads go on answered and it's a shame .

Congrats on the purchase, but man it's not free advice Friday... put some work into this, do some homework... All of your information is right on this site....

Like it's even in a thread, to ask someone's opinion of that is the best or easiest way... You realize varies even on skillset, budget, or taste?

Clearly if you want the easiest way, theres one mass produced kit avail, and readily avail for the 4x4....

Groundforce makes a 2/3 kit for 4wd. Mcgaughy’s and Groundforce both have 2” rear lowering springs if you just want to level the rear. Most guys put air bags inside rear springs so you won’t sag if you tow.

It may be a long thread but it's worth reading through. I've lowered three 4x4 Rams, it's a slippery slope, the more you lower it the less practice it gets IMO. For my Laramie I settled on a two inch rear drop for now and might add H&R front springs.

I did the Groundforce 2/3 on my lightly modded truck (regular cab, 4x4). Kit was about $850 at the time.

Did the GF 2/3 lower on our 13 Ram CC 4x4. Tried the ram model airlift bags and they were too long. Granted they held up for a cross country drive but i later replaced them with bags for the explorer. They are about 2 inches shorter in height and fit much better. Ill try to attach a pic tomorrow when the suns out.

Most guys use the bags for the Durango,as they're a couple inches shorter to.Are the bags for the Ford Explorer the same as the Durango bags?

The groundforce 2/3 is the most common and its not horribly expensive. About $1500 installed and alignment afterwards.

I went with a 2/4 drop and airlift 1000's out back to smoothen things out abit. I don't 'truck' stuff with me but I have put 2500lbs in the back with the airlifts running 35lbs. Still basically bottomed out. Overloaded illegal and unsafe but it got my load home so I'm sure it'll tow a boat.

I'd probably say use the ground force kit and add airlifts out back as a nice measure for towing. These trucks are known to sag running OE suspension ever since they went coils out back a few years ago anyway. So the airlifts are a must if your towing a lot IMO.

I’ll sell you a GF 9984 kit that’s been installed for a week. I got different Struts/Shocks (Rancho RS7000 with a shorter length than OEM rear shock to give more stroke from the drop).

Powder coated Prismatic Powders “ILLUSION PURPLE”

I even have some ILLICIT CUSTOMS no cut brackets never installed I can sell too... 94b2e863f0c87b62347eb7bddec6f50b.jpg

Apologize about the explorer bags mention. Got 'em confused I have the durango bags. They def help with towing. Recently used a moto hitch carrier with a zx6rr (430'ish lbs) aired the bags to 70psi and had no issue. Forgot to air them back down when complete and it was like a log wagon when i hit a bump. Excuse the dirty dirty on the truck but i took a spill at thunderhill raceway on the moto last sunday and my ribs are still feeling pretty not awesome.
