For the people that rented a strut-spring compressor: where did you rent it from? I know that Autozone rents them out. Anyone else? Does everyone use just the basic compressor?
Not sure if its worth buying since its a tool that will be used very rarely.

Harbor freight sells a clamshell type that is infinitely safer than the death sticks. I've done around 12 sets of struts with it.

I bought mine from Amazon. Yeah, it's a little clinch worthy when you really get the springs compressed, but used it twice with no issues. (Knock on wood)

Man, these things scare the hell out of me but always come back when I need them.. be extra safe. I watch a video of a guy using them and it broke on the video. The actual long bolt broke in half 1. Sending shrapnel across his garage and cutting his finger in the process(god knows how that's all that happened) and 2. The other side was still compressed leaving his spring a death trap that he had to compress to move forward... 5 out of 5 that they do work but 1 out of 5 on comfortablility

I tried to use the autozone one to compress the springs to install bilstein 5100 adjustable struts, sadly I couldn't get them compressed enough to get the strut bolted in. It got to the point I could see the long bolt bending so I bailed on that project lol
