Steering Gear

When I turn the intermediate shaft going into the steering gear box I have some movement left to right not in and out Is some movement normal? If not, can this be corrected with the adjustment screw or am I looking at a replacement? Trying to get rid of intermittent snapping type noise in steering wheel that I think is coming from the shaft knuckle and maybe the play at the gear box. Everything else in front end is brand new.

Try an adjustment first it cant hurt anything. I used a paint pen to mark myn, that way if I didnt like it I could easily move it back.
