Is their a way to determine the stock gear ratio? IE: tag on the housing or code on the door or something?

My truck is a 2013 quad cab express with a leveled RCX 6" lift and 35x12.50r20's.

Websites I look at say it could be 3.92 3.55 or even 3.21.

I am thinking the most likely candidate from my research is 3.55

Are a lot of you guys running 3.55's with 35's?

I am worried about extra wear on the transmission(6sp).

There is a bar code on the axle, most of the time it gets dirty or unreadable after a year. You can request a free build sheet online which takes about a day.

I had a 4.7 with 3.55's on 35's I wasn't winning any drag races but it was capable, I'd have no worries with the same tires and ratio with a 5.7.

Go here Ram Trucks - Contact Us and click "equipment listing" to the left. Put in your VIN and you'll be able to see what your truck came with.

My 2012 had 3.55's with Duratracs at 315/70/17 (34" tall 60lbs each) tires. I could feel the additional weight but the truck still pulled strong.

With 3.21 gears it would definitely be questionable... you'll notice the increased tire size a lot more. With 3.55's or 3.92's you'll be fine. As mentioned above, get your build sheet off of Ram's website and look up what your gear ratio is.

I got 3.55's and 35's . . . Do I wish like hell I would have ordered the truck with 3.92's ? . . . Oh yeah . . . Runs perfectly fine with the 3.55's, it's just that 3.92's would be better . . . Especially around town . . . Wouldn't even consider it if you find out ya got 3.21's

Better than 3.21's!

Thanks again that worked out great!

I just sold my 2013 Express 2wd and bought a 2015 Sport 4x4.

I botched the one thing I wanted the most....... 3.92 gears !!!!

I was doing my usual dealer shopping and was trying to hammer out a deal at my local dealer... He couldn't get to my sweet spot price-wise, so I drove 20 minutes to another dealer.... Had the exact truck with a few more options than my local dealer AND I got him to my price without spending the entire day.. I bought it.

It was the next morning while de-badging when I realized YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT GEARS IT HAS IDIOT!!!!

So I go look at my sticker in the glove box....

3.21 of course!

The first one I looked at had the 3.92's (was the first thing I checked) I somehow convinced myself that I checked the actual one I bought... NOPE! Dammit!!

I feel like a guy who just bought a single story house, and can't figure out why there isn't a staircase. :(

Damn ... Kinda know how you feel ... Convinced myself that i needed the 3.55's for the highway mileage to and feom work, and that my wife was never gonna let me lift it and stick 35's under it ... Now I work closer to home and do mostly city drivin, and the wife said my truck looked like a 2WD, and that I should do something about that .... Sometimes life can be a real kick in da pants

3.21's?

That sucks man. Can the 3.92's be ordered and installed reasonably priced?

Could you just take the truck back?

Lol well that is a kick in the pants! Literally the opposite of your initial plans! At least the 3.55's aren't too bad!

Unfortunately it's an expensive upgrade to go to the 3.92 gears once you have the 3.21s already.

I hauled 10000 pounds on a trailer with 35 mud grapplers and rockstar rims a very heavy combo and it was fine with tow haul on but I'm sure 3.92's would have been better

You have the 3.21's?

The heaviest thing I'll be hauling is a Jetski trailer.. So not too worried about that.. Just pissed that It'll most likely be emasculated on takeoffs once the 35's are on. :/

If I swapped the gears out, ironically I would be out about what I saved by going to another dealer to barter LMAO.
