You will lose the ability to change any settings controlled by the factory radio. Unless you get a unit that is idata link capable and get the idata link unit. You will need to get the siriusxm svx200 or 300 version and switch your service to that ID. Also you will lose the center console usb. It will power up but won't send signals to the radio.

Not what I wanted to hear... Would I also loose mirror microphone?

If you have seen in my other post, I'm having some bad clipping through the speakers. Didn't have this issue before replacing them. My theory was that they sounded like that before but the new speakers are supper clear so I'm hearing it.

I think it's the DAC causing this

Is the factory head unit bad and need a new one?

Only on Bluetooth and iPod, not aux or sxm!

Should I wore the speakers to an amp or is there some sorta thing I can wore to filter clipping?

Otherwise I take that risk of looking everything....

Yes you will lose the microphone also. Someone on here is trying adapt the stock microphone to a aftermarket unit. The rest could be any number of issues. Could be a defective radio or Bluetooth module in the radio. Same with the usb port.

Is there a way to replaces those moduals and hope they work? Or are the intergrated inside the head unit? I have been reading on forums that Bluetooth just sucks on every 5.0, but nobody is complaining about iPod so I feel like I'm just a sour apple. And I'm stuck cause I cannot enjoy my iPod music

Also there is a idata link box and a idata link intergrated into the units but those units are like 750-1200

Idata link works with a couple alpine, Kenwood and Pioneer units. They have a list on their website. So it's a add-on unit. If you choose not to use it you lose the ability to change what settings are controlled by the factory radio. You'd have to plug the 5.0 back in anytime you want to change a setting. The factory sxm antenna will plug into the sxm tuner.

idatalink will work with select model that support it, this will give you the uconnect features. If your deck doesn't support idatalink then you will get the same feature as the axxess harness.

even with the idatalink deck there's no indication in the manual that the factory mic will work. In fact I'm convince they won't since there's no wire on the harness for it.

I've got the parts for the preamp, it's just a matter of building and testing it now. I also need to figure out if they used electret mic.

I'd suggest visiting the iDataLink site and do some reading. Select your vehicle configuration and it will show you what radios are compatible. Do your legwork though before you decide on a radio and make sure that it will cover all of the settings.

Personally I like Kenwoods as I know they include the heating controls as well as have performance gauges. Not to mention, I just like the sound a Kenwood produces over a Pioneer or Alpine. Just a personal preference of course, not to sway you one way or another.

In a nutshell though. The iDatalink plugs into your existing Ram radio connectors that are currently attached to your stock head unit. The other end of the iDataLink plugs into your new aftermarket HU. With a little wiring and easy programming, you are good to go.

Is there a way to integrate the center console at all or no? Also what head units work well with it or do I need to by the 750 head unit?

It's a new product. No one would know except them. Read their website or give them a call and see.

I know I've used a Kenwood HU with great success in my 11 F150 with Sync. Looking at the Alpine and Pioneer lineups, I think you are forced to go with Kenwood as I do not see any heating controls on the Alpines or Pioneers. I could be wrong, I just can't find anything to document it.

What HU did you order? Did you make sure it is compatible? Since the interface is a new unit, it could be tough to find. I would call a couple of local audio shops who deal with iDataLink or even Crutchfield and see if they can get a hold of it for you.

DDX5901HD, i saw a video that some one put this in a charger with the uconnect and everything worked just fine, so im guessing this one will work with the IDATALINK. All the datalink dealers are not in the bay area, and there are 1000's of dealers, im thinking of waiting for crutch to get it before proceeding, im wondering how long it will take for them to make it for sale.. ill call crutch tommorrow.

is this what i need to order first?
