Most within this forum probably will care less! It was not their idea so it’s stupid! 1 or 2 might appreciate it though.

No worries though - I did this for my 68RFE not theirs. I do hope others will understand why.

I will take a few more pics when the ambient temp is closer to 90-100*F.

Stinks I had to have Kole drive me to Oriellys & purchase 2Qts of Valvoline ATF+4 = I didn't have extra RL C+.

Get all that stupid tech out. The one good thing about 4 gens is we can often take the Japan tech out, but with the newer trucks they would have a real tough time doing so. It may be the 4 gen's will be the best trucks Ram have or will ever have made.

Its actually IMPOSSIBLE to walk into harbor freight and “save money”. Whats wrong with me[emoji31]. I went in for crowsfeet only and walked out with things I already have that I thought would be good to have doubles of[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I forget to mention: The 1\2 $15 tool worked perfectly with no flying debris.

getting the front lines to snap back into the new block - both at the same time was the bugger!
Yup the parcel post lady heard some new fancy words this morning!

LOL that would suck[emoji23]

In all seriousness, the only negative thing I’ve read on this bypass block was on the Cummins forum. Basically deleting the thermo block could potentially freeze the fluid in the cooler and block fluid flow if you live somewhere that temps get to -30F or below. But that seems like a pretty isolated “negative” for this bypass block.

So I guess if you live where it gets that cold in the winter, you might want to leave the thermo block on there...

I could see that, but if I lived some place like that I’d have a heated garage!

i read you saying you have bought many tools from harbor freight. im curious about the quality of their torque wrenches. looking to slowly do more and maintenance myself, getting away from paying a garage for stuff i can do (oil change, tire rotation, etc). i know a good quality torque wrench is invaluable. can i get one without spending am arm and leg?

I've seen -50F in Northern Alberta and transmission fluid still pours out of a bottle.I think you'd be dead long before tranny fluid quit flowing, lol

I pulled the tranny thermostat out of my old 2013 way back in 14,just cut the ends off the factory lines, put a flare on the ends and used transmission cooler line to tie them back together. This block would be a nicer install though. My old 6 speed would run right around 160 on a hot day at 75mph.

Stock tranny thermostat has been removed, tranny now runs between 160 and 165F

I have the inch lbs one and it is fine. Accurate...? Who knows.

I had the ftlbs one and it broke after tourqing my wheels after 2 tire rotations. Got a store credit for it.

The only harbor freight tool i buy any more dont have to many moving parts in them if any at all.

However,
I did get a Hercules drill last year and it has been great. Surprisingly.

I have a Tekton in/lb torque wrench I bought on Amazon. I've used it many times and it still works fine. But like U&A said, how accurate is it?

I really should buy an in-lb torque wrench, I usually just rent one from Autozone, but I should get my own.

Best pet is I can take them to the PMEL shop on base and get them calibrated for a 12 pack!

EDIT: is this the one you have?

So this is deceiving,

The whole time i was looking at pictures I thought it was brass.

This is aluminum Just like OEM.

Must be anodized that color.

Hope you
Guys checked yours over. Mine had 2 burrs in the smaller hole that is drilled at an angle from machining.

Check it over good.

Don’t want that going through your valve body. 74d498c7537fff3e5bfa3c0a1eccd4b3.jpg
