Even single engine i own gets some form of 2 stroke oil in it.

Have you ever had startup idle issues running 2 stroke? Started running some and now whenever I cold start (haven't really driven much to remember if same with warm starts).

When I start up, the idle rpm dips for a second then goes back to normal and everything is fine.

I am using the suggested 1oz to 5 gallons of Pennzoil XLF.

This is entirely irrelevant... I don't know what kind of vehicle you are using but my Ram does not take 5 gallons of oil.

Anyways, if anyone else has some productive to add about using TCW3 in their gas, please post.

The service advisor stated the reason for the new engine was that the technician noticed there was an “excessive amount of metal down in the pan”. He investigated further and found there was “severe scoring on a couple of the cylinder walls”.

Well, "Doh!". We keep seeing cams with lobes wiped off of them and/or huge furrows that a fouled roller has plowed up. Where do they think all that friggin' metal goes?! Hint: It doesn't vaporize and get sucked up by the PCV system. Unbelievable!

I have built a lot of engines, and this is just obvious ****.

BTW, congrats on a complete replacement.

True, it's a fact, in GENERAL. We all know diesels crank out the torque and have higher compression; so they've got beefy internals, and bulletproof blocks. We also know they hit max power much slower and have slower RPMs. Slower equals less wear. Less wear equals longer life. In GENERAL.

You said, "Even the worst diesel still has much better internals than the best gas engine." It's also a FACT the Oldsmobile diesels, were garbage and those made it to 100k, if you were extremely lucky. We can all pick and choice. Pick that diesel, and the pentastar. Not a favorite, but we have lots of those over 100K.

I see HD Rams abused everyday on job sites. Saying a 5.7 or 6.4 couldn't live to what the 7.3 did, is nothing but looking through rose colored glasses. I'm not trying to pick a fight. I suppose I'm just tired of the 'everything was better before' mentality.
Oldsmobile 350 diesel from the 70's and 80's? I thought we were talking about diesel engines in trucks. I wasn't talking about car engines for sure since we started out talking about Powerstrokes with a dash of Duramax and Cummins thrown in for good measure. I don't know **** about diesel engines in cars and I'll be the first to admit it.

The no emission control aspects of those older engines was better by a mile. There's no way in Hell I would own a newer diesel unless it was deleted that's for damn sure.

Yes and no. Yes, they based it off the 350. No, the Olds diesel was not just a gas engine converted to a diesel. Using the same bore and stroke *meant Oldsmobile could build the engines using the same tooling/factories as the gassers. They could also share some of the same part, which is partly why that engine **** the bed. Doesn't change the fact that it is a diesel engine.
Edit: I incorrectly said they had the same size block. The diesel was way beefed up to deal with the 3 higher compression rating.

Without a doubt it's cool just because they were one of the first to put one in a car in the states, imo.

This was a good watch. No wonder those things had so many issues.

Wow keeping up with this thread is like a full time job. A little over a year of ownership here's my story/update. 2018 hemi 1500

Ended up having enough M1 5w20 for 2 oil changes (left over from 2011 Wrangler) so that's what's in there now and next oil change will be what's left.

All in KMs - 10k km = 6k miles.
4k - PYB (dealer free credit)
10k - pennzoil Platinum (remainder of dealer credit and I paid diff)
20k - M1 5w20
30k - next scheduled OCI

23k now and purring like a kitten. Good mix of city and highway and no towing. Occasionally loaded bed and cab for camping and honey-do list. From new I disable MDS whenever I remember which is almost ever time. 0 mods to speak of.

Pennzoil goes on sale here fairly regularly. Just not the 0w40. Will switch over to PUP 5w30 as soon as the M1 is done.

Love driving the truck... just wish she wasn't as thirsty.

If you get an opportunity to catch the PUP 0W-40 on sale ( or not [emoji16]). Try mixing PUP 20wt and PUP 40wt at a 50 / 50 ratio ,this will give you much more moly than the 30wt [emoji1360]

Yeah. May be worth while to do one on sale and the other full retail... something to consider over the next year lmao

So Ronnie goes from Redline 10w30 to 5w30 this run, and goes over 2k miles longer, and the wear goes down, hmmmm. Hemi Honey 5w30 Redline? You can't make up the **** that happens in this thread, lol.

Did you use a different filter?

Your calcium is up over other tests.

You may have a problem.

Filter used was the RP 20-820 .
Higher calcium and TBN imo is a result of so much interstate driving this oci .

At the extremely weak mix ratio of 640:1 it should NEVER change how an engine idles.

NEVER.
