EXACTLY...why not tell it like it is....the truck did 11.987...why try make it sound faster be dropping off the last number...it's still damn fast !

11.998 DOES round to 12.00 if you are going to 2 decimal places from 3....it sure isn't an 11.99 run...took .008 seconds too long

11.987 rounds to 11.99 when going to 2 decimal places from 3....(11.984 rounds to 11.98 correctly)

As far as I can see, if 11.987 means 11.98, then 11.98 means 11.9......

I just put that on the name of the thread. Clearly says 11.987 in the thread. No one that I have seen except yours self has seen or felt the need to round anything. Would you have rather I put that it ran a NA record of 11.99?!?!? Lmao. Yahoo’s be running rampid up in this forum

Actually goes the other way, a smaller tire acts like more gear. 3.55 on a 28” equates to a 4.18 gear
Wow, that's Awesome.

But I have a question. Are your back tires aprox 24.5 inches in diameter?

And if so, are there any mathematicians who can tell me what the equivalent final drive would be with a 33" tire? I figure aprox 4.76

I was talking about going from a 28" tire on 3.55s to 33" tires on 3.55s. And going from a 24.5 tire to 33" tire would be 2.62.

This was based off 33” tire being the factory tire size. So you would go down from there to a 28” tire thus giving you a 4.18 affective gear ratio

I would think that if he had 33" factory tires he would know what his gear ratio would be. If he is going from 33 to 24.5 than he was pretty close with his 4.76.

Must have missed where someone asked or even thought about running a 24.5 tall tire.

As far as I’m concerned, you always start from the factory tire size with the gear you have in the truck. So if it’s a 3.55 and the factory tire is a 33, go up or down from there with your affective gear ratio. No ram has a factory 28 or 24.5 so you wouldnt use that as your starting point

33 to a 28” is a 4.18 affective ratio
33 to a 24.5 is a 4.78 affective ratio.

You can do it how you want. Just starting from factory tire size is pretty standard

LOL well this thread sure turned into a bit of a **** show on you Kyle, lol. No wonder none of the fast guys hang out here anymore.
Just for the record I round down on timeslips to,nobody in their right mind ever rounds up a timeslip. The guy who brought up tire sizes also needs a lesson in how to calculate gear ratio's from the "stock tire " size, not from some fabricated tire size ,lol

This is a shame as a lot of good information is lost, but I have personally learned the same thing can happen other places also(if you know what I mean).

Call me what ya want...ain't gonna hurt my feelings none at all........and like I figured, people would get all bent and respond exactly as they did if I asked.

I asked the question cuz to me, saying you ran 11.98 when it was really 11.987 just seemed a little ******.

Yes, you did say within the post it was an 11.987...not trying to take anything away, just asking why leave off the last digit ?

So you're telling me if you say you run an 11.98, I am suppose to know it is really between 11.980 & 11.989 ?? Cuz in some circles, those thousandths get real.

I mean I know you ran an 11.98, but the guy down the road claims he ran 11.98 also....how do I know who is really faster ?

Dial-in, I get that you'd be a 11.98 dial in.....cuz if you used 11.99 and ran the number again, you'd break out. Had you said you were an 11.98 dial in, I'd have understood much better.

But, hey, guess my question gave y'all some comic relief for the day.....and since you already think ill of me.....it's "rampant"...running rampant.....google the urban definition of rampid.....kinda funny actually.

I didn't realize they had 33's from the factory. Mine are 31" and that is ridiculous!

Sorry if I ruffled your feathers a bit. I am new to this forum. Believe me I know how to calculate size vs gear ratio difference. I didn't know what the "standard" starting point was. Sorry!

Calling dropping off the thousandth sleezy and talking about people fighting over it. Its a thousandth of a second....alot more things in this life to be that passionate about than a thousandth of a second racing vehicles. Its a hobby buddy, not a way to make a living for the guys in this thread. Every single person that I have come in contact on every hobby based forum, no matter the brand vehicle, no matter if a car or truck, every single person except you only bases their et's up to the hundredth. Lastly...bless your heart :)
