Ok so Im in need of some tires here and im pretty clueless when it comes to which is best, where to buy etc. Im wanting a 33" or around 285/70/17 aggressive looking tire. I want more of on the cheap side because im not gonna do much off roading any more so they dont have to be the best for off road but just have that off road look. What brand would yall suggest based on that?

also where would be the cheapest place to get them? online? where? I have access to a tire changer so I can mount em myself and save some money. Again i dont have a but load of money to spend on tires...

Check out Rimzonline.. They are sometimes a few bucks cheaper than most places. But they are still $$ for a lot of their tires

I used to run Falkens for my low profile tires on my '98 and I had no complaints. But I'm not familiar with their more aggressive tires.

My buddy just got these on his four runner and is in love with them... Not sure about wear yet but he likes the compromise between ride and aggressive look

stock size that were on it when I bought it. I think theyre like 31's so I expect a difference in mileage when going to 33's, but the falkens are like 62 lbs each so im a little worried about them

Check out the general grabber AT2 and the BFG all terrain not the KO,s both of these are in the 40-46 lbs range and have a decent look.

I've owned the geolander tires in that exact size and was very happy with them.

40-46 lbs range are for the 265/70/17 size, not sure how heavy the 285's would be.

About to get some Nokian Rotiivas this week as I got a good deal on them for 129 a pop. Granted they are a European company, but you might be able to get them in the states.

went to discount tire today to look and they had the falkens for $198 and the weight was like 55 which I believe is about average for this size, the guy said they were a newer model. I might be going with them overall

Another AT to check out are cooper st and mastercraft courser at (almost identical tires, I believe both are made by copper)
The stt is nice to but is a more aggressive tire

Yeah that's true I lost some gas mileage that's for sure. But, me going to 35's and a 6" lift didn't help either!

All,

Didn't want to start a new thread on tires so, bringing up an oldie....

Should update my handle from 99ram318 to 2006MegaCab1500-5.7 !!!! LOL

Anyway - I have a set of Falken I bought 2 years ago. I have the Wildpeak HT LT265/70R17 121/118s. These tires now have 25k on them and look like they were just put on.

Here is the dilemma - I rotate them every oil change, re-balanced every other. This last oil change it was too cold and I had them rotate and balance the tires and noticed a mild shimmy. Checked the air pressure and they were all sitting at 36ish. I pushed them back to where I always run them at 60lbs and shimmy is gone. Called a couple of Falken dealers here in town and they and the website say 80lbs cold. I have never run them that high. I only pull a '06 18' Ranger.

So - anyone else have any ideas or comments? Going to call Falken directly on Monday and see what they say and report. 80 seems high and also seems like it would feel like I'm driving a Panzer tank......

Thanks
