Hell All,

Anyone have a recommendation for a Tonneau cover for my new Ram?

If you want a hard cover, I'd recommend the Undercover.

Mine has the Dodge factory folding vinyl cover (with a handful of bows). I can't remember who makes it. Truck is a 2012 and has held up fine till now and still looks great. It's held down on the sides by velcro with a more rigid metal hold-down latching bar in the back. You roll it up to the back of the cab when you need to haul. The bows stay in place as you roll it up. At first I wasn't sure how I'd like it, or how well it would hold up, but so far so good.

If that's what you're looking for, I'd give a quick check on craigslist for a take-off unit. I've seen a few for sale around here for a pretty good deal. There are lot on ebay too. Or you can elect to pay more, wait 10 days (shipping) and buy one from Amazon.

My last truck had a BakFlip and on this one I have the MOPAR cover. They are both nice but I do like that the MOPAR does not need to be lifted to open and close the tailgate.

I just bought a Tyger tri-fold for around $230 on amazon for my 2018 RAM Quad Cab. The build quality is fantastic, it looks great and is a fraction of the cost of almost all of the other well known brands. This is the second tri-fold that I've bought (owned one for my Titan in 2005). Anyway, tri-folds are very versatile, water tight and the Tyger brand fits RAMs really nicely.

I had the Lund Gensis tri-fold Elite and liked it alot. Very inexpensive at under $300 from Amazon. My brother now owns the same one on his. I just bought a short box so I now need a different cover. I'm leaning towards the Genesis again but am open minded and will keep an eye on this thread for recommendations.

Got this tyger off of amazon for around $200. Seems pretty sturdy and doesn’t leak when it rains. 04673a4b4cf88fe82c3a5857ae434856.jpgf808a0a0be921606d631edf088996266.jpg

I just installed a Retrax MX Pro on my '17 Laramie and love it. You do give up a bit of bed space though but as i don't haul much i didn't care.

The Bakflip MX4 does not need to be lifted to open and close the tailgate. I just installed one on my truck over the weekend:

The BakFlip I had on my F150 you definitely did or it would destroy the tailgate seal even had a big warning sticker on the underside.

Your cover looks great, I like that they sit flush with the bed. I wonder if they have made that change across their whole product line.

Have had an access lorado on for about 3 years. No complaints. Its a soft roll up, low profile. Looks just like the day I put it on. Stays taught, and water tight. Open and close the tailgate without having to open it. Suits my needs just fine. Got a decent discount just by chatting with the online sales guy. Think I paid like 330

I had a Bakflip on my 2012, the Bakflip HD, that also required you to open the tailgate before closing. The newer MX4 has a Universal Tailgate Operation with Dual Action Seal that allows for closure with the tailgate open or closed. This feature is only available on the premium covers though (the MX4 and the F1).

I have a Leer 700 fiberglass hard cover. It's secure and waterproof. You can also have it painted to match your truck. Couple problems--they ain't cheap and you can't carry anything over about 24" tall cause it won't close. If your going to carry a lot of stuff frequently I probably wouldn't recommend this style. Mine is a 16 Sports short bed.

This. I always recommend this one. On occasion you can catch them on sale. I got mine for $208 on Amazon.

I put an Extang Solid fold 2.0 on mine and I love it. It’s secure, it’s water proof, I can take it completely off in about 2 minutes (reinstall takes 3 due to lining it up), and tailgate opens and closes fine with it closed. Matter of fact, you have to operate the tailgate with it closed due to the way the latches work. It is a bit thick (an inch or so) and it sits on top of the bed rails, so it’s not a flush mount type, but it’s perfect for me. Light enough I can get it off/on by myself without issue, and I’ve had 2 back surgeries.
