318 or 5.2 which ever you want
converters don't really "make" TQ or mpg, they just allow a highly modded engine to launch at a higher RPM range. But there may be some stock replacements out there that are better than others. I can't say as I have ever replaced one just because it was "old". Unless you are having trouble with it I'd say keep your money or spend it on a diff upgrade.

A quality tq converter does not add power, but it will reduce some of the tq loss that is caused by the sub par factory converter. Because of this, it will help at all rpms, but you will feel the biggest gain off the line.

i am running a patc 2600. it works pretty well. no major slipping on take off. just not fully locked till 2600 rpms. it was a pretty good investment. if you call patc they can build you want you want and help you in the right direction you should go. if i remember correctly stock is like 1900.

46re right?

I'm not sure I agree with some on this issue. I had an 86 F250 4x4 460 C-6 3:55 gears. I installed a Hughes Tow Converter HD along with a 6 clutch forward clutch pak. Transgo shift kit. It gave me a big increase in torque pull a 10,000# TT. Climbing mountain passes really showed an increase.
But my 99 V-10 5 Sp 3:55 gears pulls circles around that Ford with the same trailer. Once you go DODGE you can never go back.
