Hey guys new to the forum
i just ordered myself a 2018 express reg cab short box,5.7 8 speed, 3.92 gears. the plan is to do a 2/4 drop, im thinking one of the belltech kits. i have a 26 foot enclosed car trailer to pull my race car around, loaded down with the car and tools i figure im gonna be around 7500-8000 lbs.

any suggestions for air bags or something in the rear? or has anyone towed anything this long with a truck with a short wheelbase like this? a little nervous haha, thanks in advance!

I have an airlift 1000 kit that I installed in Jan that I’d sell ya if you don’t wanna spend the $100 on a new kit I’d prob do $60.

However the 5000 kit would be a good option too for heavy loads...

I have towed this truck and trailer to several shows with no issues.
My Ram is was lowered 3/5" with with the airlift durango bags in it.
but I suspect an enclosed trailer would weigh considerably more that this one.

I had the same truck. Motor tranny and gears. I tried until I was blue in the face to tow a 6500 lbs travel tailer. 4 different WD hitches, air bags, either 8 or 10 ply tires and anything else I could spend money on. I loved that truck but the wheel base would not handle the trailer weight and length. The tow rating on the truck at the time was 9200 lbs. I finally traded in the truck with 2k miles on it for a four door version. It handled the trailer great. The Hemi and 8 speed with 3.92s is amazing. Got rid of the trailer and truck and bought a RCSB tradesman with the same drive line. Hopefully you will be fine with 3850lbs. Be careful the first trip with the race car loaded after about 50 mph.

between my two trucks towing the same rig, i feel like i can piece together a pretty confident statement.

i reverse leveled my 11 ram express, so it was *semi* lowered. i was fighting wheelbase in this scenario, wind does funny things to a rcsb truck with that much height and weight on the back. i dont have a pic of my current truck towing the same after i lowered it, but it feels much better. I feel like control arm relocation brackets would help me a lot now, but i don't have any complaints otherwise.

do the airlift 1000s if you don't want to cut your factory bumpstop cups. if you don't mind cutting a little bit, go with the timber grove bags. they seem to be a nicer kit than the airlift 5000 kit. the timber grove setup will give you a lot more wiggle room for leveling the vehicle than the 1000s, and much more air capacity too. You should be able to handle what you're trying to do though, i have a friend or two that tows with a rcsb r/t and don't seem to have any issues over stock ride height.

for those running the airlift 1000's are you using the 11-18 Durango bags? I sprung a leak in my dodge 1500 ones and want to run the smaller bags this time.

Right on. Thanks for confirming that for me. Wanted to make sure i didn't get the wrong ones. these are back ordered in my area so didn't want to lay out the cash for something that wouldn't work.

Do the bags just come in the bright red? I have a blacked out sport and i think the red would drive me nuts.

firestone might make a black bag but you’ll need to cross ref that part number to them. for what it’s worth, you have to be literally under the truck to see the rear coils lol

Yea I’m probably just being to picky but I thought you might be able to see them on my ‘18 when I get the 22” hellcat wheels on. I’ll have to just wait and see I guess.

I thought that if they would be visible I might be able to put them in a cut down tire innertube to hide the red
