Updating engine controller

I'm getting a catalyst efficiency below threshold on my 05 dodge ram 1500 bank 2. I replaced both 02 sensors and checked for leaks. I have 100 thousand miles. I am hearing I might be able to update the controller from dodge. Anyone done this before. I'm trying anything before I have to cut the converter out.

If the CAT is bad it needs to be removed. The rear O2 sensors can be turned off with a custom Diablo tune. But you need to fix the problem first.

Just a note, the 05 has two cats and two forward O2s which provide input to the PCM for AFR management and two rear O2s to monitor the cats(emissions). The rear ones are the ones manipulated to kill the code.
