Hey guys long time lurker infrequent poster. I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 2wd unfortunately. It's time to replace my front shocks apparently which I find to be kinda annoying seeing how I replaced them like two years ago with the Monro-Matic. Well went to have an oil change done at the local Midas and when it was on the lift they brought it to my attention that the rack n pinion was bad which I was aware of and that the shocks were needing to be replaced. Not so much the shock but the bushings attached to it not sure if that means that the whole thing needs to go? Question is what do I replace them with I don't even know what my options are I have Monroe reflex in the back should I just go reflex all around?

Rancho’s are a halfway decent, reasonably priced shock. But if you want a really good shock and have the loot then I’d go billstien. I put the rancho’s on and they are pretty good, at least way better then it was.

Do they make the required rancho or bilstein shocks for 2wd truck though? Supposed I'll have to Google it.

I have had Monroe and Rancho shocks. Not a fan. Started using Bilstein application specific about 10 yrs ago. Cost more but they are a tier 1 quality shock. Now use them on all of my vehicles.

I use the Bilstein factory site.
Yep I just checked the site for my 2018 2500 CC SLT 2WD. Same B6- 4600 front and back. PN 421 and 439 No stainless option available. The powder coated ones I have on my 03 Ram have not discolored or faded.

Wonder why the 5100 doesn't work?

I could’ve sworn when I was looking at bils that I could do 51’s in rear but only 46’s up front but only cause I have 4x4. Sorry bud, I thought you could with yours.

Edit: apparently if you have 4x4, then you can use 51’s in the rear, but not with 2wd. I don’t get why not. I just checked site.

I think the only third gens that you can put 5100s in the front are the 06-08 4wd trucks.
