Hello, what can I do to beef up the brakes on my 2012 Ram 1500. I want to get better stopping power while towing. I also do not want to go to ceramic pads if I can avoid it.

Thanks

Lynn

why no ceramic pads? They're significantly better.

Nothing more than reading comments from others saying that they don't like to use ceramics for towing because under weight of stopping they do not grip a well. They said they are great for cars just not trucks that will be towing.

A change of pad / material will only give a marginal increase in stopping power (or decrease)

Is your truck a 2 or 4wd? You can get SSBC upgrades for both (I believe).
They offer a larger caliper / larger rotor combo.

There are also full on extreme brake packages, but they're ~4-6K.
And won't fit in most standard wheels.

This is a quick google search for SSBC:

Sooo pretty. That's ~1800

EBC Green stuff and sport rotors. You can get them done for about $600 and they're good for towing as well.

Just get some aftermarket slotted/dimpled rotors and upgrade to some EBC pads.

Does anyone make stainless braided lines for the 1500 Rams ? I added them on my Trailblazer after 35's and it made a very noticeable improvement.

Yes. I had them on my SSBC kit and different ones that Rotora supplied on the huge brake kit I have now. Unfortunately I can't remember who makes them but they definitely exist.

^^^ I agree. I have the EBC rotors and pads. Definite improvement over stock.

They do make a little more noise because of the dimples.

On the 3rd gens I seem to recall there were some guys who fitted the brake booster from the HD trucks, and said the difference was night, and day. Never saw one in person, but you might look into whether or not that is possible.
