What happened to me today... Anyone else?

So today I was driving home, put on my left blinker and stoped at the red light. When the light turned green I hit the gas and nothing happened. I looked at my cluster and it said shift to park. I did and tried too shift back to drive. It did not work. I had to completely restart the truck. Has this happened to anyone else? If so what causes this?

Shift to park, park to shift....its like why do they call a driveway a place you park, and a parkway a place where u drive? hmmmm

I have the 8spd... The light above the D was blinking and cluster said shift gear to park... It was all effed up until I restarted

I've never had exactly what you describe but have had probably a half dozen or so odd computer "glitches" in the two years I've had my 2014 truck. I've had it not let me shift out of park until I restart the truck and have also had various error messages that go away after restarting. It's kind of scary sometimes how hi-tech these trucks are.

I didn't have any of these scary syptmtoms, and cluster and shifting seems very reliable for me.

But I did have all sorts of noises and grinds in my engine and drive train... :-(

This condition is what is only supposed to happen when the engine is turned off but the vehicle is still in any gear other then park.

I would chalk it up to a glitch, for some reason the vehicle sent the signal to your shifter that a request to turn off the ignition was made. Do you have a push button start?

I was going to say it might have been a glitch, but I see you had wrote that it has happened more than once. Yeah,...seems like something might be off.

I have the 6 speed but this happened to me once. Brought it in for the 2 or 3 recalls and they also reflashed. Hasn't happened since. Wonder if there was some updates to the comp also? Anyways. Mine did exactly the same thing. Scared the heck out of me! And I only had it for a week!! Bad start. But it's been fine ever since so...
